Old Edwardian hotel with character. Excellent breakfast.

Very dated hotel with worn out furniture/bathroom.Awful smell in. Corridors. Very deceptive photos. I do not recommend

Surprisingly large hotel. Lovely helpful staff. Good breakfast. Right in the centre of Carlisle. Close to Cathedral. Parking was available for us but is somewhat limited so don’t rely on it. City centre was having a makeover so immediate surroundings were chaotic. Sound insulation in the room was poor.

Room 205 over the kitchen service area. Radio blaring and loud conversations from early morning. Bathroom was grimy with dirty grout and dirty round plug holes. Will not stay here again.

We had a lovely stay

The Crown and Mitre was very comfortable and was in a convenient location. The staff were very hospitable and professional. We enjoyed our dinner and especially our breakfast.

Great location ,no complaints really nice hotel and staff

Booked for one night for a work night out. The building is lovely and ideally located near the city centre, though there are major construction works happening outside. The room was adequate, with a nice powerful shower, but there were signs of mould and it could use some updating. The staff, especially the night porter, were very helpful and made our stay more pleasant.

Great area and a nice looking historic building. Front desk was helpful and kind. It was clean and had some great amenities. Only negative is there is not a fridge in the room which wasn’t a big deal for us but it is something to be aware of!
