Battaramulla is a much underrated destination in Sri Lanka. Near to everything that Colombo has to offer but with its own unique identity and a beautiful lake and wetland reserve area, the town is worth considering as your base when visiting Sri Lanka - and nowhere is more welcoming, comfortable or hospitable than Villa 53. The hosts - Sriyantha and Champie - went way, way beyond the call of duty to make our stay both memorable and productive. Nothing was too much trouble for them or their team (particularly Nirosha and Kamala), A magnificent breakfast started off each day and someone was always on hand to provide help or advice when needed. The room was also very large and well appointed, and the hotel itself is within easy walking distance of both the town and the lakeside dining areas, The villa has its own large swimming pool, too - a lovely place to end the day. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Villa 53 to other travellers
