Booked a deluxe room and don't believe the one we were given was a deluxe room. The room was very shabby! Chipped paintwork and plaster coming off the wall. Only stayed a night so could not be looking for something else. Told the reception on checkout my concerns as assure me the hotel is due for a full makeover. I would check if it has been before booking and make sure it is a deluxe room. A Travelodge would be a better choice until it has. However all that said it is very central and has on site parking so for one night it just ok

The property was once a lovely place to stay, as have stayed in the past... This time it was dirty, had to ask for extra towels and glasses, also had to ask for toilet roll, and asked for more coffee and tea as only x2 on arrival in room.... Asking staff for anything took at least an hour to receive.... Could do with staff who care about there jobs and where they work.

Extremely disappointed with the room, it was of a very low standard, it was nothing like the room advertised. The standard of cleanliness in the room was way below an acceptable standard and was nothing like the room you advertised. When we booked this room we booked it in good faith expecting to stay in a clean lovely room as advertised by you.

It was great that it had free parking, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Ideal positioned for the shops and pubs, it looked a bit tired in places and some damp and water staining on some of the walls, but not in our room.

Whole building is on a bit of slant which makes moving around your room interesting. Restaurant food was not good. Beer was warm. Hamburger was tasteless. Pancakes were hard to cut.

Very good

I was very nervous because it was my first overseas trip in a long time, but the staff were very kind and treated me and my son well. I stayed here to go to Highclere Castle, and they arranged a taxi for us, which was very helpful. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Newbury. Thank you very much.

Pleasant Hotel, thou our room was in the converted barn, hence water damage to the exterior door and wall. When entering room you had to walk through puddles to enter.

We booked a 2 night stay but only stopped 1 night due to the general grubbiness of both the room and the rest of the hotel The mattress was unbelievably uncomfortable and should be thrown away Breakfast was served luke warm and I could not believe it when I was told you have to pay for tea and coffee extra The whole experience was awful find somewhere else

Great little place un centre of town

5/5 for everything. Staff was kind and helpful. Restaurant was delicious and offered great promos for food/drink and even had trivia night. Room and facilities are well kept. Won our group over with the heated towel warmers. Absolutely adorable room. Beds were so comfortable. Price and location right in the middle of all sorts of stores, cafes, etc was unbeatable.

Stayed here on several occasions nice and handy for everything rooms are nice and it's also very good value for money.

Room is massive. We walked in thinking it was going to be a small room but it’s really big, very spacious. The bed is unbelievably comfy. Recommend the stay as it’s a one minute walk from town centre. Service is very good and people there are lovely.

Very convenient for Newbury town centre, train station etc. Comfortable and large room with massive bed. Shower could do with an overhaul and there really needs to be a bath mat to avoid accidents. Breakfast nice but a bit slow even though there were no other diners present. What irked me was being accosted on my second morning to be told in no uncertain terms that I’d left without paying for my coffee at the previous days breakfast. I thought that was quite small and left a bad taste. I had prepaid for breakfast but apparently that doesn’t include tea/coffee. Also need to improve consistency of information. The hotel sent a message after I booked saying checkin closed at 11pm - fine I thought - but I received a call at 930pm asking where I was as there were closing reception at 10. A bit stressed as I was still on the train.

Very enjoyable

Very convenient location and parking. Lovely area in central Newbury which is pedestrianised during the day. Nice hotel rooms sympathetically modernised with character. Staff very very helpful. Only negative was noise after 10 pm of customers in the outside area. They weren’t being rowdy but the sound carried enough to keep us awake.

Bedrooms are in need of a refresh, not as nice as the pictures suggested. Expect noise until about 10pm from the pub. Bed was not great, sagging and lumpy. Nobody was to be seen in the morning for checkout or breakfast so not sure how that works, I went and got breakfast in town.
