Great resort and location for us. Clean accommodations and welcoming reception when checking in. It's just a great place to stay as a jumping off point for daily activities along the northern North Shore. We'll be back again for our 6th year next year.

This was an awesome rustic cabin feel that is perfect for a trip up to the North Shore.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The small kitchenette was well stocked. The motel rooms were small and we could hear people on both sides of our room. Beautiful view of Lake Superior.

It really felt like we were at a cabin. The room was cute and had a beautiful view of the lake!

My daughter just finished her semester at UMD and we were looking for a place to stay by Lutsen. We like hiking at Temperance state park and spending time in Grand Marais. The location was perfect.The rooms were perfect for us. They were equipped with everything you need, even a fan. We stayed in a motel rm with a kitchenette. The view was incredible and had a deck to sit on. We walked our dog down by the lake and sat on the rocks. Our room was super clean. The beds comfortable. We will definitely come back.

Property is old but maintained, everything worked. The price was reasonable for what you got.

Fun place with great staff!

This is the second time we stayed. Our motel room was knotty pine and cute but the outdated bathroom was not. However, I could see they are remodeling the motel rooms and can’t wait to return. Beautiful and historic lodge with new sauna and shower room (which I wished I had used instead of the one in room.) the check in process was great.

I arrived late and the office was closed and they were so accommodating. My room was perfect for my dog and me. I've already talked to my daughter about a girls weekend here!

You get what you pay for. I stayed at the motel. Loved the lodge, views of the lake and the rooms deck area. The room was comfortable. Staff are friendly. I am ok with the dated rooms. Cons were the walls are paper thin, toilet barely flushes, bathroom wasn't clean found many long dark hairs, and had problems getting warm water.

What a cute little place! The main lodge is so cool with its historical charm, and our room was perfect sized and very clean. We even walked around the property and found a beautiful spot right on the lake to sit and have a glass of wine. Only minor complaint is if you stay in the motel, you can hear every truck that passes on the highway. But this place was lovely and I would stay here again. Thank you, Solbakken!

From the time we checked in, service was great. Staff friendly, service efficient. The room is basic, but very clean. We parked right in front of our door. There were dishes and pans and a 2 burner stove perfect for whipping up breakfast and a grill off a private deck to grill dinner. Tables and chairs outside for our convenience. Great place to stay if you are looking for reasonable, clean, friendly and dog friendly. We will be sure to go back.
