Lovely location with parking. I would stay there again

We stayed in a twin room in the height of summer, the windows could not open beyond an inch or so, there was no fan and the room was hotter than a sauna. Unbearable. The staff were lovely but totally unsupported being left in charge late with no guidance. We felt very sorry for them. Simon was excellent and made our stay really good. The garden and food was lovely. Breakfast consisted on a plate with stale bread roll and box of cereal no bowl or milk. Left outside the bedroom door.

We come to the Pelican often for the great atmosphere and food, but have not stayed before. The staff are simply the friendliest and most helpful of any where. Our room was spacious and

Nice clean place, staff very friendly, if a little under staffed, could do with additional staff in my opinion, but the staff I encountered remained positive and very helpful. atmosphere is good, the food was good, all in all I had a pleasant stay. If leaving before the main pub entrance is open, the route out to the car park could do that lighting, it’s very dark exiting via that route.

We needed a room at short notice. It was warm and comfortable. Didn't eat as they weren't doing breakfast. Had a drink at 9.30 in bar - just in time as was closing down. Odd to be locked in the hotel section and shown where the fire escape was.

Rhea was a very helpful staff member. Great stay. Excellent locally sourced food.

I was disappointed as when I made the booking it says breakfast included, once I confirmed the booking it said room only, the property still says breakfast available but this is not an option and misleading, I have complained to Expedia, but this has not changed

We enjoyed our stay at The Pelican and it was a short walk to Canal after dinner.

The Pelican was a lovely place to stay on our trip; the surrounding lawns, garden, pond and brook were lovely to sit by on a warm day, and the dinner we had was really excellent. Our room was nice and had plenty of room, but was very, very warm (it faced the afternoon sun), and there is no A/C. The weather was unusually warm for England during our stay… We purchased electric fans to help with the heat and left them there for the Inn - we hope they will be made available to future guests.

The lady on reception was lovely, no towels in the room, and when i tried tp the get one the hotel was empty, no breakfast which i was told by hotels.com there was one, it should have been £40 max not £104

Décor wise the room was fine, water pressure wasn’t great but was ok. The issue was there is no ventilation in the room. There is a double skinned window, the first was the original window and that is now seized shut, then there is a more modern layer which can slide up but all this allows is the convection from the old window to try to cool the room. It was a sweat box and I ended up sleeping in the car. Management there are useless and couldn’t have the decency to reply to emails. Staff just wanted to close up early cause there was no customers and I’m really not surprised. Doubt they will be open much longer with customer service and facilities like this.

Ideal location for travel, and food/service in the pub/restaurant was fantastic. But the windows didn't open in a very warm room, and they were not daily changed or cleaned! Rooms have been updated, but the shower and carpet are not great.

at booking the hotels .com site stated breakfast included but on arrival were told no breakfast as they did not do breakfasts, whilst very disappointing our stay was very good, food firstclass and management and staff exellent

A bit of a bizarre set up. The main access is via the pub unless it’s between the hours of 2100 and 1200 in which case you have to use the fire exit. Check out process doesn’t exist. Breakfast isn’t an option, despite being listed as. The road is pretty noisy. But the beds are very comfy.

Bedroom was decorated beautifully. Bed very comfy. Lovely bathroom - bit cool. Hot water for shower. Had dinner and lunch there which was delicious

We always book B&B (breakfast included in price) so imagine our surprise when checking in we were told that there was no breakfast! We could buy, at extra cost, a continental breakfast bag. Hence only two stars! The manager was apologetic but we also had it on our papers. We chose the Pelican because it was exactly the same price but with breakfast as a nearby place without breakfast! Anyway, we had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant in the Pelican, so we can recommend that. The room was cold - single glazed windows and a not very warm radiator but there was an electric heater in the wardrobe which we used. There was no heating in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable.

Stayed here a few times on this occasion it was only after I checked in I was told there is no hot water during my stay, not ideal when you have just finished work
