We recently stayed here with our three children, each under 12 years old. This Ryokan had a large bathtub type onsen in the enclosed courtyard which we all enjoyed. The location was close to a convenience store for some food and supplies. We love that there was a laundry machine and dryer here. This was a very fun experience and we definitely recommend the special breakfast in the morning.

Amazing place to stay in Kyoto. Convenient, easy access to buses and trains, and is walkable to convenience stores and supermarkets! The staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also delicious! Definitely recommend, 10/10!

Beautiful ryokan! Has the perfect balance between tradition Japanese style house and modern twist. The private onsen was amazing, the washing machine in the house was so convenient and easy to use (with the help of Google translate) multiple bathrooms, and ampule of space. The small kitchenette with a fridge also included. I would recommend this place to any traveller. Theres nothing to complain about.

Beautiful unit, the bed was so comfortable!

Room very clean, very nice Ryokan, however once we checked in iterally there was 0 staff usually available for anything. We had questions regarding how to dispose of our garbage and questions one day about no running hot water, there were explanation sheets but 0 personal available which for we had never experienced before. The laundry service in the room was helpful but again we had to use google translate to figure it out because there was usually no one around.

A good hotel can truly elevate the quality of a trip, and this hotel did exactly that. The room was much more spacious than I expected, and the hotel itself was excellent overall. It definitely enhanced my travel experience. However, I unfortunately did not receive much help from the staff. During this trip, I had an unexpected car issue and ended up checking in later than planned. Staff members are available only until 9 PM, and after that there is no one on-site. I arrived around 9:10 PM and wanted to contact someone for assistance, but it was extremely difficult to reach anyone. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, I was finally connected to an AI support system. I was disappointed when I was told that my room number had already been provided in the check-in information link. Since the room numbers are written in kanji rather than numbers, it may be difficult for guests from countries unfamiliar with kanji to find their rooms easily. After a long and exhausting journey in the heat, it was frustrating not being able to speak with a real person. I was simply told, rather coldly, that the room information was already included in the link I had received earlier. Please be careful to complete the check-in process in advance. Otherwise, you may find yourself in a very difficult situation late at night.

The two-story villa is spotless, beautifully designed, and remarkably quiet. ​Having a kitchenette was incredibly convenient, and the in-unit washer/dryer was an absolute lifesaver for our travels! To top it all off, soaking in our own private outdoor open-air bath was unforgettable, and the staff were incredibly friendly. A perfect 10/10 stay!

Had a wonderful stay in the sakura room. The private open-air bath was beautiful and relaxing. Breakfast was lovely, and slightly different each day. Very helpful staff.

Beautiful place very clean and helpful staff. My only complaint is the hot water heater system. You have to press a button to turn it on to get desired temperature and was constantly causing me problems trying to use it. My outdoor tub also leaked from faucet anytime while using it. Small imperfections but for over $500 a night needs to be addressed.

Such an amazing place that was beyond our expectations! A really beautiful stay for a couple or family with lots of room and a private outside bath. The staff were amazing and the Japanese breakfast was excellent. Would stay again for sure.

The unit was beautiful and was exactly the traditional style we were looking for. A little ways from historic Kyoto but easy to get to in 15 minutes. Sleeping with eye masks helped block the outdoor light in the morning. I wish there were directions for the washer dryer and that the a/c directions were a little more clear. Other than that it was a beautiful spacious stay and shower and onsen were perfect!

The rooms are very spacious, which made it especially comfortable for our family. The attention to detail throughout the ryokan is impressive—from the design to the overall atmosphere, everything feels thoughtfully curated and peaceful. The staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and friendly, always going out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed and cared for. I would highly recommend Rojiyu to anyone visiting Kyoto, and even more so for families looking for a spacious, traditional, and memorable stay.
