This was a beautiful family run business with amazing views. Never have I felt closer to nature or the people of Costa Rica. The host was amazing, super helpful and kind, she made us homemade traditional Costa Rican breakfast every morning. She made herself available at all hours, even when we had to checkout at 2am for our flight home. Parking onsite, and 7 minute drive from down town Alajuela. The view from each room and amenity is breathtaking, the pool is clean and a pleasant escape from the midday heat. The property is a tropical paradise with mesmerizing foliage and wildlife, you can pick ripe bananas in the garden and share them with their pet bunnies (Mango & Waffles) who roam the property daily. I like sit by the overlook in the parking lot with the humming birds and butterflies. This would be a great vantage point for bird watching so pack your binoculars! There’s a handful of very good local restaurants within walking distance, our favorites including El Gordo’s (furthest distance, $$$) & Zompopa Pizza (mid distance, $). This was my favorite part of Costa Rica and I would love to stay here again.

What a truly magical place! The view alone is worth the stay, as Loma Tranquila fully lives up to it's name. To add to an already amazing experience, the host is absolutely wonderful- cooking up a delicious breakfast each morning, and happily attending to whatever you may need, with great recommendations and even some money-saving connections for tours! It's her personal touches that put Loma Tranquila above and beyond. Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating vacation in Costa Rica with an authentic local vibe.

This little room in Costa Rica was well maintained and even though it was in a dead end it was in a good location with restaurants and supermarkets nearby!

Very nice staff and very quiet. Hotel is need of significant maintenance and repair.

I arrived at night and was only there until early the next morning . The gate has a call button but it’s just open and you have to slide it to get in and walk down a big hill. The window was broken in my room and the staff who showed me to my room disappeared after handing the key off and asking when I was leaving . The pool was empty. The shower was pleasant and hot. The cable did not have a clear channel. The morning view from the cliff was AMAZING!

Dueña Rocio is muy amable. She works very hard to maintain this property herself and is incredibly polite to everyone including her two daugthers. You will have an amazing view of the city, bunnies are walking around the property, available pool area, and fresh breakfast. It was my first time visiting Costa Rica with my mother and we enjoyed our stay. Anyone staying at this hotel can expect a very peaceful environment. Please treat the property with care and respect—Doña Rocío truly deserves it. We would definitely come back & hope to see Doña Rocio again!

Clean room, great view, great price, good breakfast, personable host family

I had an amazing stay at this place. The owner was very helpful and friendly. But let me tell you what's amazing about this place, is cottage looking. The view is stunning. The owner is always available at anytime. The pool wasn't available during my stay , because they were painting it, so is understandable. I rented a car which is a must, but this place is very nice. I recommend 100%. Will be there soon!

The room we paid for was not the room we received. When I questioned this with the staff, they said there is nothing they can about it and said all the other rooms were booked. The room I paid was supposed to have a King size bed, fridge, and fan. The one I received had a double bed and no fan or fridge. The pool was not in service and it was empty. Parking was very stressful as there is a steep slope and minimal space to maneuver. The only good thing about the stay was the view and breakfast was delicious. This still doesn't make up for us being given the wrong room.

The owner is very helpful with what you need for information for your trip and to accommodate whatever needs you may have. I spent almost two weeks here. The view is great, the climate is great. Uber takes you wherever you need to go at a very reasonable rate if you are without a vehicle.

The hostess was extremely helpful to me. This was my 1st time in Costa Rica & I felt right at home. Of course I would have preferred the pool to be up & running but the view, being surrounded by nature, fresh bananas off the tree, breakfast every morning, privacy while on the property, gated entry made me feel safe & I was fortunate enough to have a personal driver for 3days to take me all over, from the mountains to the ocean made my trip absolutely priceless! Definitely worth the money!

View is amazing, lady that works there is very good..property is run down and need better maintenance and paintings. Wifi is good and breakfast is very simple , no complain . Pool was closed because of paintings . Parking is free .please sent up pest control .that is a must . Property itself still have a lot of potential for improvement before it's too late

L'acceuil était génial.J'suis venu ici en sortant de l'aeroport et malgré le fait qu'il était dépassé minuit, la chouette proprio vient m'ouvrir la gate qui naturellement donne un sentiment de sécurité total lorsque à l'intérieur. Vu carément génial de la ville du fait d'être sur une terrasse au top de la montagne. Mon voyage prenait fin aujourdhui donc naturellement je suis revenu dormir ici pour ma dernière nuit.

Die Inhaberin war sehr freundlich und familiär. Das Frühstück war mit frischen Früchten vom Garten gemacht und die Aussicht auf die Stadt ist atemberaubend, schade war nur, dass der Pool kein Wasser drin hatte.

This place is perfect for a seasoned solo traveler. It’s very safe and the inkeeper is absolutely wonderful. I stayed here alone and ventured out to see other areas and left my belongings here and returned four days later. It’s close to the central Market and a quick cheap uber ride. I walked to the local restaurant with the best views of San Jose.. Is it pampering? No. It’s clean and simple. Breakfast cooked by the inkeeper makes it feel like home. I appreciated this property so much because it was quiet. I planned my activities in other places but it was nice to come back here and enjoy the hospitality of a local owner. I would stay here again.❤️

That personal touch is what sets this place apart from anywhere else we’ve stayed. The rooms were immaculate — fresh, tidy, and well-appointed. To top it all off, breakfast was included and absolutely delicious — homemade and the perfect way to start each morning. You could taste the love and effort that went into every dish. It’s the kind of breakfast that keeps you talking about it long after you’ve checked out! If you’re searching for a peaceful, charming getaway with a host who makes your comfort their top priority, this is the place. We left already looking forward to coming back!
