Great location. Friendly staff.

We had a lovely stay. Hotel was spotless. Downside we had to pay £58 for parking plus a taxi to and from the hotel to collect car. Hotel should advise visitors of other closer car parks. Our first time in York and we didn't have a clue. Breakfast was nice and fresh and lots on offer. This isn't a complaint but again the downside was no mushrooms or hash browns. It is the little things. Overall we had a lovely stay with nice weather.

Great location and lovely breakfast. Air con not working in the room, reported it and manager came and reset it, worked for 10 minutes and broke again. Too noisy outside to have the window open. Reported our disappointment on check out and ignored. Recommend for location but ask for a room river side.

Good location close to the station and the city centre. We booked to stay 3 nights and checked out after just one. Had upgraded to a minster view room, which did have a nice river view and the room looked nice enough. However, the mattress was so hard that we might as well have been sleeping on the floor. The shower also had a broken thermostat so was impossible to get a good temperature. Both our backs hurt so much it ruined our day spent walking around York. When we checked in the member of staff could not have given less of a crap but when we went down to check out after one night we very much expected them to at least ask why we were leaving so early, possibly offer us a different room (though we fully expected all rooms to have the same beds, hence deciding to just leave) but nope, barely even looked at us and clearly just wanted us to leave. We won’t book here again. I will add that there was a gentleman member of staff who was very helpful and friendly, I think he may have been a cleaner and was of Asian origin. His smiling face was the only welcoming thing about this place.

Very smooth checkin and rooms were ready. Exceptionally clean rooms and great location with a 5-6 min walk to the city centre and the York city walls

The room was well laid out and clean. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly.

Great location and convenient parking at the hotel. Very nice to not have to go search around for a separate lot. Staff helped us with questions - super nice people! P

Breakfast was all fresh, but compared to similar hotels was very basic, no hash browns or mushrooms in the cooked option, but a good selection on the 'continental' breakfast. Room was clean and well presented. However, other than the coffee and milk, the complimentary items bottled water, biscuits, and hot chocolate sachet were not replenished daily. I will give credit to the staff on reception, after I reported the heating controls not working in our room, error E04 on the controller, a heater and additional quilt were offered immediately, and waiting in our room when we returned. Gym facilities were adequate but lack some heavier weights.

With the one exception, everything about the hotel is excellent and being so close to the city centre and railway station is why we chose it. This is why I we have rated the hotel highly! One huge problem is the close proximity to nightclub life. Having chosen to pay the extra and have a minster facing room, my wife and I weren't aware of a nightclub directly facing us on the opposite bank of the river. Music and shouting from this venue was present all weekend well into the early hours, and on the Sunday when you would expect it to be quite, it kicked off at nine in the evening, finally becoming quite at 3 o'clock in the morning. If it is a quite relaxing weekend you want, I suggest you don't stay here. Ours was completely spoilt. The staff are fully sympathetic on this issue and have made complaints to the council themselves to no avail. I wish them well with any further attempts that can be made to quell this nuisance.

We only stayed 1 night but the room was lovely and clean. The lady that checked us in was really friendly and welcoming and said that we could be heck in early when we came in to drop our cases off which really helped us have more time on our short trip. However, why really let the trip die was when we went to pick up our cases up and the lady at reception was incredibly rude to my dad. As we went in (around 7.30pm over 4 hours after check in) there was a huge queue of people who’d just got off a coach. We’d be happy to wait but we didn’t want to rush for our train

Friendly and professional staff.

Our room overlooked the River Ouse and was ideal! The views were stunning and York Minster looked majestic in the sunlight. The room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was equally clean and tidy. Staff on reception were warm, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Parking was undercover, safe and secure which was reassuring. Our only issue with parking was venturing out to Harrogate and Knaresborough for the day and not finding a parking space available in the hotel on our return! So we used Marygate car park overnight which was a delightful walk along the riverside to the next bridge.

Be warned that some of the rooms have little soundproofing and significant external noise - not a happy combination for good sleep

Staff were so helpful - any request was not a problem at all - to check in early, to leave my bags, to access my bags and put them back. When I first arrived, I paused while I figured out where my room was and a member of staff instantly noticed and showed me the right way. Room was very nice, had everything I needed such as an iron and separate shampoo and conditioner. Exceptionally good value for money, definitely recommend!
