The hotel is centrally located and is just a stones throw from St Mark’s Square, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about it. The hotel reception looks nice and gives the impression of a certain standard of hotel, however the room we were then shown to was very different. It was much shabbier than the main reception and seemed to be at the back of the hotel as we went through a separate entrance to reach it. The room didn’t look like the pictures we’d seen when booking, although perhaps we aught to have done more due diligence. The room itself was sparse and not at all modern, with very dated fittings and fixtures. The bathroom in particular was unpleasant and in desperate need of updating - I tried to use it as little as possible. There was a fridge in the room, which was helpful but other than that the pillows were wafer thin, the bed was hard as wood and the view was non existent out of the window. The telly didn’t give much hope either with only a few channels working. The staff at reception were generally helpful but not exactly friendly and the breakfast was OK but nothing to write home about. Luckily we had only booked to stay one night and we couldn’t wait to leave. Will not be returning again.

Un séjour très agréable ! L’hôtel est très propre, confortable et idéalement situé. Le personnel est accueillant, professionnel et toujours disponible pour répondre à nos besoins avec le sourire. La chambre était confortable et très bien entretenue. Le petit-déjeuner était varié et de très bonne qualité. Tout a contribué à rendre notre séjour agréable. Je recommande cet hôtel sans hésiter et j’y reviendrai avec grand plaisir. Merci à toute l’équipe pour cet excellent accueil !

A estadia foi excelente. O hotel estava limpo, confortável e bem localizado. A equipe foi atenciosa durante toda a hospedagem, e o processo de check-in e check-out foi rápido e tranquilo. Recomendo a hospedagem.

Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Rooms are horrible, very outdated, AC didn’t work, temperature was 27 degrees, we had to change the rooms twice. Most wall outlets didn’t work, wall paint is peeling. We had two rooms they were on the six floor but the elevator only goes up to the 4th floor and you have to climb two floors with luggage to the six floor. Changed rooms the next day. The hotel offers complementary as part of your stay a trip to Murano factory. They explained that transportation by water taxi to and from the Murano factory is free. We got picked up from the hotel by a guide who puts us in a water taxi and got to the factory ( Mazzocato factory) after the tour they refused to transport us back to the hotel and told us we had to pay for our way back. They claimed that the guide didn’t work for them. We paid for the water taxi and got back to the hotel where we explained to the receptionist what happened, she was very surprised and confirmed that the factory was responsible for the transportation and the guide works for them, she asked us to send an email to the hotel and request a refund for the taxi ride which we did but never heard back from them. I think the whole thing is a sales pitch to get you to buy products at astronomical prices, if you don’t the leave you stranded. Very disappointed at the whole stay.

Ottima la posizione vicinissima a piazza S. Marco, da rivedere l'arredamento e il letto che cigola, assolutamente da rifare il bagno e togliere la tenda nella doccia. Buona la prima colazione a buffet.

We had an excellent stay at Royal San Marco Hotel and were very pleased with the overall experience. The location is outstanding—convenient, central, and perfect for exploring Venice. The staff were welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and we appreciated the charm and atmosphere of the property. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we would gladly return and recommend Royal San Marco Hotel to anyone visiting Venice.

I would choose this place again simply for the location. It’s only a 1 minute walk to St. Mark’s Square and easy to find. My husband and I appreciated the strong air conditioning in our room (a welcomed relief from the summer heat), excellent buffet breakfast varieties, helpful staff, and being provided with a breakfast-to-go when we needed to check out at 5am for our flight.

We only stayed for 2 nights and the location and breakfast were excellent. Aside from those two highlights, the bed mattress and pillows were atrocious. There is no cushion left and you feel every spring pressing against your body. I could go on with a list of more negatives than positives but I think you get the point. Bottom line, we don’t regret staying here because it was for just a couple of nights before we started our cruise.

Review of the Royal San Marco Hotel, Calle dei Fabbri, Venice - 7 June to 14 June 2026 As we had booked and pre-paid in full for our room and had been advised that arrival time could not be prior to 3.00pm, we were surprised to receive a phone call ten minutes before we arrived at 3.00pm asking if we were still coming as the hotel could easily let our room to someone else. On arrival we were handed the key and told our room was on the fifth floor. We are both 75 years old but rather disappointed to find the hotel had no porterage, especially as the lift stopped on the fourth floor and we had to carry our cases up an open plan dog-leg staircase to the fifth floor. The room was so small that the twin beds had been pushed together to allow space to walk round them to the bathroom. There was reasonably sized fridge with a complementary bottle of water but no tea or coffee making facilities. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom, as advertised, but it could only be used for three minutes at a time as the handle then became too hot to hold. A bulb in one of the bedside lights had blown. It was reported to Reception to no avail but one of the cheerful and helpful chambermaids was asked and promptly replaced it. The staff in the breakfast room were also very friendly and pleasant at all times unlike the Reception staff. We were unable to pay the City Tax the evening before departure - we were told it was too inconvenient.

Considering the age of this building, everything was very well maintained, clean and functional. Our room was interesting and perfect for us, with our daughter along on the trip! The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was amazing.

Very helpful staff. Nice breakfast in the morning. Rooms are good size. Great location. Not far from the water taxi. One small bridge to go over with approximately 7 stairs up and then down.

Das Zimmer war sehr ruhig und weitesgehend sauber. Allerdings haben wir leider aus diesem Urlaub Bettwanzen mitgebracht. Das Frühstück war ganz in Ordnung. Abwechslung fehlte etwas.

Walking into the property is lovely, with lovely marble interior - but unfortunately the rooms aren’t to the same standard. They’re quite dated, and very small - albeit I accept space is somewhat limited in Venice. My shower leaked all over the floor, and the bath wouldn’t fill. On top of that, I was bitten all over my body on the night I stayed - but after three other nights elsewhere in Venice, I wasn’t bitten. Breakfast was great also
