Conveniently located near busy areas, this is a new building in an otherwise older and what some might consider a rougher type of neighbourhood. To me, this comes with the territory of being near busy areas, just be realistic about your expectations. I did come back a few times to find a homeless person in the entrance seeking shelter. New building with very high tech things like power curtains, sit stand desk, nice shower, very comfy bed. Might take a lil bit of tinkering to figure it all out, so maybe an instruction sheet would have been helpful. I can see there was a lot of attention to the little details and they were appreciated. The check in process was easy, just called a number and i was texted an access code to enter the building. This felt more like an air bnb which was great, very minimal interaction with staff as there is no front desk (which i actually prefer), but be prepared to be self sufficient in that regard. There is a parking lot directly across from the hotel for $20/day, which is super reasonable. I wish this was included as part of the communication cuz i paid for Street parking first before I realized this super convenient lot was there. The hot tub was closed but we were there in mid April so i guess i could understand why it might not have been quite open yet. Wish they did allow smoking on the roof top deck, don't really see the harm in it. Nice little touches throughout so will definitely consider staying here again.

Great overall stay!

Absolutely loved staying here! I will forever stay at Boxotel. When my flight got canceled, I immediately rebooked a stay here again. The staff was an amazing, very quiet, charming, modern.

Great service and amenities

When I booked this hotel it was marketed as contactless and automatic, no staff on site, very high tech. When I arrived I immediately had an issue checking in through their web-portal, despite a security check they initiated via email, 72 hours prior. I simply could not get into the building using the passcode provided. I ended up calling their support and someone let me into the building and had me wait in a lobby area for 15-20 minutes. A nice man showed up and explained they “have issues with the web-portal and don’t really use it”. The issue was the portal did not request a credit card needed for security if booked through a third party. I gave a credit card, they made sure it was good and I got my passcode. Annoying after a red eye flight and killing 5 hours until the 3pm check in but understandable. The Good: -lovely clean room with a concrete, industrial aesthetic -comfortable bed -very nice, accommodating staff -great location with 10-15 minutes walk to downtown; restaurants and pubs much closer The Not So Good: -a victim of its own designed high-tech, I realized at 11pm the automatic blinds did not work, nor the tv (no cable or streaming) and the lights were tricking (one button off/on for all room lights sometimes did not work. I slept with the blinds open (i did not want to break them by manually closing them). Inexplicably one light would not turn off so slept with it on -the next day I mentioned all these things and was given a new room (tv and streaming worked

It's like a unicorn amongst rotting zombie horses, this hotel is my favorite, but the surrounding area is nasty.

Wow! Blown away with this place. When our flight got canceled, I had to rebook at this place. The staff made you feel very welcomed and at home while away. The room are adorable! And the detail made it over the top. They left fruit out which was nice during the blizzard. The gym was awesome, when I come back to Montreal I will ALWAY book here. It totally made my trip. J’ai adoré mon séjour à Boxotel. Premièrement, le service était très bon. Le monsieur à la rentrée du 14 février vers 21h30 était très accueillant. J’ai trouvé la chambre bien honnêtement. La décoration de « Montréal vibe » était nice. Le lit était trop confortable. Je recommande et j’irais encore, il y avait vraiment tout ce qu’on avait besoin.

Boxotel Montreal is the perfect little adult getaway! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the sleek, modern design and the welcoming staff. The rooms are stylish, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We loved the sauna and the steam shower. Unfortunately the rooftop hot tub was out of service. The hotel’s eco-friendly approach and attention to detail made our experience even more special. It’s quiet & intimate. W highly recommend it for a chic, stress-free escape in Montreal!

I will come back for sure. Loved the man at the reception super sweet and welcoming. Great when you’re travelling with your dog too. Not safe for deliveries tho. Ask for the delivery to be at your door because two of my deliveries disappeared…. Thank you I be back soon.

Boxotel exceeded all my expectations! The location is unbeatable, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. The modern rooms are stylish, comfortable, and equipped with excellent amenities that made my stay feel luxurious. The service was absolutely wonderful—friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist. I’ve already decided this will be my go-to place for my regular trips. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-notch experience!

Boxotel offers incredible value for money! The rooms are very reasonably priced, especially given the amenities, which include a full kitchen (complete with a dishwasher) and a stacked washer/dryer. We stayed in a room with a Murphy bed that folded into a couch and a desk that could extend into a table. I was thoroughly impressed by how many thoughtful features were packed into the space! The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the high-quality linens were a nice touch. My only complaints are minor. The spa was closed during our stay due to maintenance, and no breakfast options were available in the morning as advertised. However, I imagine this could be due to the quieter winter season with fewer guests, so I don't hold it against the hotel. The location is another big plus! It's within walking distance of all the most exciting parts of Montreal. That said, one thing to note is the lack of free parking for guests. There's a lot directly across the street that charges 20 CAD for 24 hours, which seemed safe and convenient. Unfortunately, we discovered later that an AirTag had been placed inside our car’s mirror at some point during our stay—a common car theft tactic in Montreal, from what I’ve read. Thankfully, we left before anything happened, but it’s something to be cautious about when parking in the area. Overall, Boxotel is a fantastic choice for its price, amenities, and location. I’d definitely stay here again, with a few precautions in mind!

I booked a grand studio king room and I was informed on the same day around 3pm (check in time) that the room I booked is not available and they can only get me a grand studio queen room. I was asking for a refund on the price difference because I paid for a grand studio king room price! The property manager told me they will not refund unless I drive all the way and fetch it. This is unacceptable and ridiculous. The hot tub and SPA can’t be used now. Terrible experience.

Clean and great location

My husband and I loved our stay. The hotel is clean, modern, quiet and very well located. We enjoyed the hot tub on the rooftop the most. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Extra points for the large bath tub in the room. Lovely and relaxing.
