All was good

The Hotel Alda was a welcome retreat at the end of long Icelandic days. My daughter and I stayed here for a week long trip. The room was extremely comfortable, and the staff was nice and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Cute hotel, great location. Close to Bus Stop 9 which was easy for shuttle/tour pick ups. Very nice front desk staff Only small note is that there was no apparent A/C in the rooms, so if you run hot and you need to crack the window, if you're on a street facing room, you can have some noise pollution as well as cigarette smoke from street level. Bring a small fan if you're a warm sleeper like me! Wouldn't hesitate to return here

The location is handy to the bus and very walkable to many restaurants and stores

this hotel in centrally located and convenient for excursion pick ups. The staff was warm and friendly, We enjoyed out stay and would stay there again.

Perfect location. Close to shops, bars , restaurants. Clean hotel , rooms are a good size , and helpful staff. Very walkable area.

Highly recommend this property! I travel a LOT and I can say the women who work at this hotel are exceptional ( the man at the front....not so much :-) The room is very clean and simple. I had a very large shared balcony. I do travel with two portable door alarms, so situations like this are not a concern to me. The balcony has a good view of the volcanic mountains in the distance. You're given a PHONE when you arrive which you carry with you as you travel around. You can call the front desk or other rooms or taxis with the phone! What a great idea! All the taxi drivers know where the ALDA is. It's also attached to a restaurant on one side and STARBUCKS on the other! It's on a main street with exceptional shopping and restaurants! Of course there is a FREE water station downstairs to fill up your bottles with Icelandic water. The front desk called my taxis for me, and even assisted on some of my travel planning. My first time in Iceland and I will now be back and staying at the ALDA again!

The rooms were below average with very basic amenities, not even a refrigerator. The mattress was horrible. The queen room was about the size of a college dorm room with some strange light with a sweater sleeve covering? The location is ideal for the tours. The reception staff Andrea and Michelle were rude, lazy, and disrespectful.

Front desk was amazing!

Great location and the staff were wonderful. The room is well spaced although my bed mattress needs replacing as it was too soft and sagging in the middle so I woke up with a sore back and didn't sleep well. Otherwise a wonderful hotel.

It was relatively clean, staff was polite but short, location was great. I was a bit disappointed that the balcony was not private and had a stair leading down to the street, that made me feel slightly unsafe and was not mentioned in the listing. The sheets and duvet cover also had old stains and hair on them, and two out of three times we talked to staff they seemed annoyed that we bothered them, even tho we were quiet and respectful. The room often had a smell like sewer that we couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. One other thing that was kind of annoying was the lack of good blackout curtains, which made a huge difference when the sun only set for about an hour. It seemed like we paid far more than what it was worth. It wasn’t terrible, but also wasn’t great.

Perfect location. Amazing staff and response diligently with our inquiry. They also help me surprise my husband for his birthday. The restaurant was highly recommended

Our stay at Alda Hotel was absolutely outstanding from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way and truly made our trip even more memorable. We were incredibly grateful to receive an early check-in since our room was already ready when we arrived after traveling. The breakfast offered a wonderful variety of options each morning, and everything was fresh and delicious. Every single member of the staff was warm, welcoming, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The location was also fantastic — perfectly situated for exploring Reykjavík while still feeling comfortable and relaxing. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Alda Hotel to anyone visiting Iceland!
