The facility itself is old. However the room was clean. The guidance such as taxi, breakfast and spa is easily understood. The only thing I wasn't satisfied was sauna being renovated. Except for that I could enjoy staying.

This is a great traditional hotel and the staff are marvelous. We had one issue with our room and were quickly switched to another, upgraded, room, and recieved numerous apologies for the inconvenience, which was minimal.
The formal restaurant is lovely and the breakfast buffet (which you may choose to prepay) is excellent. The mushrooms were our favorite.
My wife and I visited in the off season and appreciated the value.
This hotel is located right outside Valletta's walls, so it is handy to everything in the city. And, a small note for those of us of a certain age, the hotel provides an oft running shuttle to the city gates at top of the hill, even though it is not far at all.
Most recommended.

Das Personal war sehr nett und bemüht. Das Zimmer hat stellenweise bessere Zeiten gesehen, war aber sehr groß und sauber. Trotz Lage zum Hoteleingang war es nachts Recht ruhig.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food at the breakfast buffet was good. The room was large and nice and quiet. The bathroom towels were super soft! The hotel needs a renovation though, as it seems stuck in 2002. The bathroom fixtures had mold and need replacing, and the big red comforter on the bed needs to go. Everything is outdated. Check in and check out were slow due to outdated technology also. Overall good stay, but would prefer room updates next time.

The harbour view level 3 room was very clean with comfortable/firm bed, and staff across the hotel could not do enough, but the interior and fittings are now over 20 years old and crying out for a complete refit to hold its 5 Star billing which in it's current condition it does not merit. Location to walk into Valletta central is ideal. Our first visit to Malta and we will be back, just not to the Excelsior.
