Leonardo Hotel Exeter

Stayed here for 3 nights on this trip. A very comfortable stay with exceptional service. The air conditioner in the room stopped functioning, but the staff quickly took care of the matter as soon as we reported it and compensated us with many free drink vouchers; the manager got soaked in the process of fixing the air conditioning but continued to apologise to us for the inconvenience. The staff are very welcoming, and the environment is very relaxing. Will highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Exeter. Special thanks to the hotel manager and one of the hotel staff members for swiftly taking care of the air conditioner issue; despite ending up being wet in the process you both have handled the issue with grace and kindness.

Town was walking distance, so we went out for dinner and very pleased we did, as on our return we had drinks at the bar and food was coming out looking very average not special. I thought the drinks were on the expensive side as a double gin £12 with a SPLASH of lemonade £2.65. I expect to pay a little more but a splash at 2.65 I thought was strong . The bed was comfortable but the pillows, one wasn’t enough and two was to high. It said check out online, which when I tried it said bill not ready, we didn’t have a bill as everything we paid at the time. The weather was little wet, I asked to borrow a hotel umbrella but was given a umbrella that a guest had left behind which wasn’t in the best condition. Car parking is just over the road £13 for 24 hours but with hotel you get it for £10. Hand wash, shower gel and shampoo are in the room but no body lotion which was a shame .

Sound proofing was really bad - the room was by swinging doors and people coming in and out the whole night keeping us up. Maybe if you weren't staying at the weekend it would be OK. The rest of the hotel was nice - nice foyer, good breakfast, just shame about the sleep.

Upon arrival I was met by a very friendly front desk person, who was knowledgeable about the area and allowed for early check in. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to some great shopping, restaurants and the lovely cathedral. There is also a very convenient city car park right behind the hotel. All and all it was a good place to stay for the night. The rooms are in a need of an update, and there was a stain on the carpet and also on the duvet. My room was also quite loud due to traffic noice, however for a night it was not a huge deal. I would probably stay there again because staff were lovely and the location was great.

Good sized rooms, very good breakfast spread including hot food, decent location - 15/20 mins walk to quite a few places. The amenities are less and the layout/built could have been better to allow one to have place to place toiletries etc

The hotel is the most comfortable hotel that I’ve found in the area. Great bed and air conditioning and cable tv with movie channels. Very clean and someone is always at the desk.

Shower so high I would have been a giant. Fixed head, got wet just trying to set heat. But hotel was great. Tea/coffee in Room in abundance. Service excellent would go again just for the service

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience for the sake of other families considering this hotel. Upon checking into our room, I was shocked and deeply distressed to discover sex toys left behind by a previous guest. The most upsetting part was that my 10-year-old son mistook one of them for a toy. As a parent, this was not only embarrassing but completely unacceptable. The incident speaks volumes about the cleaning standards at this property. Basic hygiene and room inspection should never be compromised—especially in a hotel that’s recommended as a VIP access property. This experience ruined what was meant to be a relaxing family trip and left us feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their housekeeping protocols. Until then, I would not recommend this hotel to families or anyone expecting a clean and respectful environment.
