The dry season from around April to October is the most reliable window, with clearer skies for the Bromo sunrise and firmer trekking paths at Ijen. The wet season from November to March brings afternoon downpours and can make the Bromo viewpoint hazy or the Ijen trail slippery, though hotel rates are often lower and the volcanic scenery turns a deeper green. If clear crater views are the priority, aim for the middle of the dry season around June to September.
