Hilton York

There was work being done in the reception area. But it did not affect our stay. The room was perfect. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff were very attentive, friendly and polite. I would stay here again. Very happy

This hotel has the best location in York bar none. Ask for a room with Tower view and you get to enjoy a close look at the nightly illuminated York castle. The only potential downside if you visit in the summer, is that this property is old and the rooms are not equipped with air conditioning systems (although the hotel provides you with electric fans). If you have a car, call the hotel in advance and pre-pay/reserve a spot in their garage.

The Hilton was disappointing. The toilet paper was incredibly thin, the plumbing gurgled, the balcony had no seating so we couldn’t sit and enjoy the view. Breakfast was poor, no table service and lukewarm flask water for tea, breakfast was too early with advice to ‘get up early and avoid the crowds’. The bathroom was poorly fitted, with a flooding sink, really bog standard shower gel and soap which ran out and was not replaced, a tiny shower cubicle that you could hardly turn around in, no toilet brush. Ordering room service we were not able to charge it to the room and had to pay on delivery. There were works to upgrade the hotel which were loud and disruptive with no compensation at all. However the staff were very polite.

Well it was hotter than usual so the Air conditioner didn’t keep the room as cool as needed other than that we enjoyed the stay clean ,staff was excellent food was delicious had a nice bar. and restaurant.

We had a lovely time, really nice hotel, there is a convenient car park over the road, the only down side for us was it was a really hot weekend and the room didnt have air conditioning so it was very uncomfortable through the night and drinks were very expensive, although we would still return.

Staff are fabulous and attentive, I have an allergy and they went to check ingredients in sausages, small things like that make a big difference. The room was lovely, nice and clean. And the balcony had a great view. I will be returning that is for sure.

I have a sever peanut and nut allergy and the staff did an excellent job of making sure I felt safe and reassured from the moment I booked the room. All the staff was absolutely lovely and so helpful! Location was also very central to all the touristy stuff which made it excellent after a long day because you didn’t have to walk too far.

Excellent location with a nice room and good breakfast.

Mostly fine, comfortable stay, however, there was a strong smell of sewage in the bathroom, particularly when I was using the shower, which was quite unnerving. Also, the dinner I had in the restaurant was a bit disappointing; the steak was tough and the chocolate melt pudding didn't melt... it was served pretty solid and not very warm. Not really what I would have expected for the price of the meal. Other than those two things, everything was fine; nice room, good location, big TV came in handy for watching Eurovision!

The staff is great but they did a very bad job planning for their remodeling project of the lobby. Our entire stay there were constant banging and drilling that could be heard everywhere in the building make it very uncomfortable to have a nap or rest in the room in the middle of the day, or even sleeping in. The location is great, the staff is very friendly and the breakfast was also nice. They tried to make it better by giving everyone drink vouchers but that didn’t really improve the experience of not being able to us the room we paid full price for at any time we wanted without hearing the unpleasant noise. I wish they would’ve closed for a couple of days instead of making hurts go through all that noise.

The location and cleanliness was good but the bed had to be the most uncomfortable bed that me and my wife have slept on. We both came with bad backs from the mattress being so hard. Poor really for Hilton’s standards.
