What you would expect from a Mecure hotel. Only issue was the distance of the room from main part of hotel.

My husband and I stayed here with our two children for three nights. I rang ahead to see if fans could be added to the room during the heatwave as they dont have any air-conditioning in the bedrooms. This was done. 2 fans were placed in our room for our arrival. The real problem we had was one member of our party was on crutches. The manager said we should have told him when we rang about the fans. I shouldn't have to point out that one member of my family was on crutches. Obviously, with being a hotel with rooms on higher floors, one would expect a lift as advertised. Instead, the person in question had to walk a very long way from the front door through the hotel and conservatory, along a very long corridor, through a small function room and up two flights of stairs, along another corridor before arriving at our room! This was done with a toddler and another young child in tow. Speaking to staff members, the lift had been out of order for around a week. We didnt see anybody working on it during our stay. The manager said if there was any cancellations on a lower floor he would let us know. Unfortunately, when I approached him the following day, he said there was nothing available. The house keeping and breakfast staff were wonderful and could not do enough for you. Breakfast was very nice, thank you. A lovely stay all in all. Only marred by the lift being out of order. The hotel has had its heyday. It is classed as a 4* hotel. I have travelled extensively. Its a 3*

Upon entering our room, we were met with an overwhelming odor and an oppressive wall of heat. The towel radiator was on full blast (at approximately 45°C). When I asked reception to turn it off, I was told it was not possible, but was promised a fan to help cool the room. This fan was never delivered.Furthermore, the room had several maintenance issues:No Hot Water: We had no hot water upon arrival. We were assured this would be fixed, but we woke up the next morning still unable to shower.Broken Fixtures: The sink plug was completely detached.Poor Layout: The bathroom design was heavily restricted, leaving inadequate space to sit on the toilet properly. The issues extended to the public areas as well. The spa facilities were unhygienic, featuring discarded, dirty toilet roll on the shower floor. Additionally, the chlorine levels in the pool were unsafely high, leaving my eyes stinging. While the staff at reception were initially helpful, the failure to deliver on promises—compounded by a total lack of basic amenities like hot water—spoiled our stay. The only positive aspect of our experience was the pizza.Given the health hazards in the spa and the lack of essential services in our room, I will not be staying at this property again.

Good amenities and grounds. Hotel is really showing its age, especially the rooms. Mine was very dark with a tiny bathroom. Lots of little imperfections and stains on the carpet. Definitely not worth the money I paid, £115 + for the night, solo traveller.

I had a good stay at the hotel but the room I was in definitely needed updating. The bar and restaurant are really nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I ate in the bar and the food was good. I didn’t use the Spa but I did notice there was an extra charge for using it.

One of the rare hot days and the room was too warm to get comfortable. Windows didn’t open very wide and no fan in the room.

The property is an old building and we both thought that the rooms could do with a bit of an update - the bathrooms were very modern. The rooms and hotel were spotless, the staff were absolutely superb - so kind, helpful and polite. It was a lovely idea to have free bottles of water at reception when we arrived with the weather being hot. We thought that the room would benefit from AirCon although we did receive a fan which helped a bit. As I say, the staff are wonderful - particularly the waiting on staff during breakfast and the reception staff. We thought that the breakfast was brilliant and very tasty but the restaurant was pricey so we ate out. We didn't really like the pizza that we had from the bar either but food is a subjective thing. We had a lovely restful weekend - spa treatments were nice - especially the scalp massage and the pool was lovely. Afternoon tea was ok but we've had nicer. We would definitely visit again in the future - thank you to everyone for a lovely weekend and the beautiful breakfast and helpful staff and clean rooms!

Room was nice, hotel food is good. The only problem was the light from the courtyard which stayed on all night and despite the thick curtains filtered into the room and made it difficult to sleep

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The room was extremely hot and stuffy. While a fan had been provided, there was no air conditioning and the fan did little to improve the lack of ventilation. The room also did not appear to have been cleaned to a particularly high standard. There was a noticeable line of dust behind the radiator, and I found a small puddle of water on the bathroom floor upon entering the room. The sound insulation also appeared to be very poor. The walls and ceilings seemed exceptionally thin, and noise from the room above was so loud at times that it genuinely sounded as though the floor was struggling to support the weight. As a result, I had a very poor night’s sleep. Given the circumstances, I requested a discretionary one-hour late checkout, but this was declined due to what I was told was a high volume of arriving guests the following morning. However, when I left, I noticed the car park was only around half full, which made the refusal difficult to understand. While the staff were polite, the issues with the room, cleanliness concerns, and the lack of flexibility regarding checkout left me feeling disappointed overall.
