Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa

We were given a room in the courtyard area no43, It was small for 2 people It smelled musty and damp The wallpaper on the outside wall was blistered.One end of the radiator, the thermostat end, was tied to the wall with a plastic tie wrap.The window was to high to reach to open There is no lift in the main part of the house or the Courtyard rooms.No43 is on the ground floor

We went for the "privilage" room, the best option they have cause it came with a walk in shower. That was a must as my partner has an injury. We stayed 2 nights, the room was so basic, very similar to the Premier Inn just slightly bigger. So bad points, there was a 1 inch gap still there when you close the window, so it was pointless closing it. You could hear the traffic on the motorway and the wind was still blowing through. As we walked out into a courtyard area, my partner slipped and fell on the floor because it was so slippery. They mopped the outside tiling floor and didn't display wet floor signs. It looks good from the outside but the inside was very basic and you pay way more than its worth.

Just had a single night stay with some friends. Staff helpful and friendly, room lovely, clean. Free WiFi us nice as the signal in a big old building with thick walls is non existent. Getting an uber to go out simple. Breakfast has plenty of options. Didn't have the time to use the spa

One of favourite hotels really enjoyed staying here again! Like the facilities especially the pool and spa.

Breakfast was good but on the last day of our stay food was not replenished and this was 45mins before breakfast finished

Generally the property needs a bit of a renovation in some respects when you look closely, but to be fair for the price paid it was a good deal. One thing though the Jacuzzi connects to the pool so the water temperature is a bit cool and most surprising of all we were unable to get a meal on the Saturday night. The restaurant was full and no bar food was available ' because the the kitchen was busy'.

Room was spotless and appeared to have been recently decorated. Unfortunately there were cracks in the sink and the hotel generally looks a little tired. The hotel staff were amazing … all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. Particularly Aziz at breakfast and the wonderful bartender Mal. He couldn’t do enough for us, moving furniture around and asking us if we wanted any particular music to be played. He really went above and beyond to make my 89 year old mum’s evening.

Very impressed with the hotel. Staff were great as was the breakfast. Had a 2nd floor double room in the courtyard, which was spacious and very quiet which I liked. It was a little cool in the room but had a sufficient wall heater to help with that. Very nice modern bathroom and shower. Very grand building and the spa & pool which looked amazing and very inviting but didn’t have time to use. Family friendly and busy whilst I was there. Would recommend a stay here to my friends

Facilities were amazing x the staff were so helpful when needing direction and the amenities on hand were excellent x but the food especially the breakfast was fantastic value for money x the surrounding landscape is tranquil x

Spa lovley, well equipped Gym, enjoyed our stay.

This seemed like a nice hotel with a lot of room choices. It was a bit of a maze. The staff were very good and helpful. Some of the food was way over priced. I ordered the butterfly chicken breast, which was £19.95 and all that turned up was a chicken breast, a small portion of warm fries, 1/2 a tomato and 1/2 a charred onion. A bigger bowl of chips on the menu was £5.95, making the chicken, tomato and onion £15! The staff were very good however and understood. They sorted me out a replacement meal. They admitted that they often felt embarrased when they deliver food to customers as they know it's not very good value for money. I blame the hotel chain for setting the prices and I know there isn't much the staff can do about it. As I say, they were very good with handling and resolving my complaint.

I booked a two night stay to complete some work - I needed good WiFi and quiet. I got it. The room could've been cleaned better, particularly the bathroom where there were hairs. The bathroom needed maintenance: water leaked under the shower screen in the walk-in shower, the handles on the bath were wobbly and enamel was missing, there was no cold water (it was like warm, which meant having a drink of cold water wasn't possible in the room).

Lovely staff, lovely room and great facilities. Booked again for a cream tea afternoon with my two daughters and my granddaughter 😍

The staff were lovely. The hotel was terrible. The room was very dated & noisy!! The room was so loud. It sounding like drilling going on for the most of the night. I have a video which highlights the level of noise from the bedroom

Room neglected. Front door did not close properly so I had to use the keychain for safety. Dont order room service; took over 1.5hrs to recieve only a portion of chips and calamari, which was vile. I sent straight back.

Was lucky to have a room upgrade. Julia on reception was lovely, helped me carry my bags to the room, which was enormous. Nice selection of tea/coffee and biscuits. Would definitely stay again.
