The Scandic Grand Central Helsinki is wonderfully situated next to the central railway station making an international flight to Helsinki airport (for which the railway station is situated beneath the terminals) and the subsequent journey into the city an absolute breeze (download and use the HSL app too).
Check-in was straightforward with staff very polite and helpful. There is a breakfast restaurant situated near to reception (which I didn't use) and a very nice bar and terrace restaurant (which I did use) and which serves very good food and a wide variety of drinks. The hotel maintains an art-deco theme and a walk along the corridors felt a bit like being back in a different era. The room was very well appointed. It was a generous size with all the amenities I needed and the walk-in shower was fantastic. Toiletries were provided and replaced if necessary meaning less to have to carry.
The hotel is a beautiful building situated conveniently to walk into the heart of Helsinki. I would happily stay here again.

The hotel had a computer failure when we arrived. We couldn't check in; it took several hours to get rectified. Other than that, it was a good hotel. One drawback - you have to walk up about 15 steps to get to the hotel lobby. With luggage, it was a struggle. But a big plus: it's located next to the Helsinki train station. From the airport, you can take a train to the station, then walk about 1/2 block to the hotel.

Great location, right at the train station, central Helsinki, easy to get around the city to the ferries, Loyly spa, Senate square, museums, etc. Staff always helpful.
Stayed in a room with twin beds, the beds were not great.
Otherwise everything was terrific.

If you're looking for a convenient location, this is it - it's right by the railway station and smack in the center of the city. It's a new-ish hotel, so everything's very polished and fresh. The room itself was pretty small, but since I was only there to sleep, it didn't matter - the bed was comfortable, the shower has a rainfall effect, and it was clean and comfortable. The style is art deco-y, which I liked. They have bikes that you can take out (for free, I think) as an added bonus.

Centrally located next to the railway like a hop skip jump. Very convenient to stay close to subway and trains. Breakfast was excellent! Lots of choices and ample food and seating. Room was clean and comfortable.

I was given a very bad room to begin with, then moved to a nicer room for the first two days, then they moved me to a different room which was very inconvenient. On the top of it, two jackets ( for my wife and me) were not moved and could. It be traced. We needed these for our subsequent travel to Iceland. I went back to the previous room with staff’s help, bothered them but could not retrieve. Then went downstairs (-1), and found both bundled up in a plastic bag in housekeeper’s room. What a surprise? How was this possible? If I didn’t go there, I bet we would not have gotten these back. I requested 10, 000 Hyatt points at least but they said that I have to go through you (Expedia). Please respond asap and offer some adequate compensation. Thanks
