Bad smell, resort credits is a scam, they charge you 18% service fee from credit card, everything is over priced. aggressive sells on packages

Hotel right on beach, great location, good restaurants, nice rooms. One pool which had dirty ring around it, smell from seaweed on beach was very strong (I know it’s nature however did make us feel ill), very little to do at hotel.

It started upon arrival , we booked two rooms for room of 3 adult and two kids and the front desk gave us two separate rooms in the opposite direction of the hotel and refuse to give us two rooms next to each other or same floor/section. He offered me that for 570 additional dollars. Second: the smell was terrible throughout the trip, the main area had no air conditioner so it was not a place to sit or enjoy the evening The beach was not accessible due to how dirty it was , first day we woke up on the noises from all the workers cleaning the beach using machinery If I book a beach resort, the expectation that i can use it and if it is not accessible then the hotel should provide an alternative at no cost , that didn’t happen The offered beach club here and there but all with extra cost including asking me to pay for the taxi I decided to do it so the kids can enjoy the beach, that was a process of 4 hours to get to a beach club in cozumel and after paying for all inclusive entry that did there was mediocre The food was average , the rooms were old, the beach was inaccessible and over that , I kept getting asked to do this promotion or that promotion The one bright star in the strip is lady by name Elvira (in activity desk) who was the nicest Persian ever and she even gave us 7 dollars and 50 pesos as our cash was not enough for the cab and ATM credit card didn’t work. Over all it was a terrible experience , this resort should be closed and Expedia takes it off its list

The staff, the services, the food, the Spa, the drinks excelent, very friendly staff, great locatiin near of 5ta Avenida with shopping options and just 2 block of PortbofvFerry to go Cozumel , the pool and lobby area just need a little upgrade, this is the only issue about hotel

The Playacar Palace has a great location near Playa del Carmen with easy access to shopping and the ferry to Cozumel. The food, drinks and staff are top notch. Rooms are comfortable. All common areas except restaurants are open air so it's warm and humid most of the time - could be a plus or minus depending on who you are. The worst thing about our stay in late June was the Sargassum algae/seaweed. We know it's always bad in this area in the summer, but the stink creates an ever present odor and of course the beach is impossible to swim at. Because this hotel sits so close to the water, you get a lot more effect from the sargassum than at other properties, like when we stayed at the Moon Palace properties. We took a day trip to Cozumel and there was no sargassum issue - if you want to get on a beach, that's the only way. We felt bad for a wedding party taking photos on the bit of sand not covered with a large pile of unsightly yuck right behind them. While we really enjoyed out stay, I'd try the Cozumel Palace in the summer instead - there's no beach, but no sargassum issue. Effectively the Playacar Palace has no beach in the summer and suffers from bad smells and unsightly red brown nastiness covering the water and sand. Put this property on a clean beach, effectively Cozumel Palace, and it would be amazing!

The dining options were amazing at Playacar, from the Buffet to the restaurants. The standout for us was the Madremia restaurant. The servers were so knowledgeable and provided amazing options. The mixologists at the restaurant were next level!

I like that recruiting for time share don’t bother you like an another resorts. And the facilities were very nice.

We had such a great time, the food was delicious, our room was super clean, all the staff were super nice and welcoming. Eric, ingrid and Perla at the pool, Ivan at Madre Mia restaurant, and of course the people who had our room nice and clean every day. Location was super convenient since we were just close to the ferry tp go to Cozumel and 10 minutes away from Xcaret.

Our family vacation to Playacar Palace was incredible! We had such an amazing time and the staff went above and beyond! The facility was amazing, the staff were wonderful, the food and drinks were extremely high quality, we were super impressed! This was our first time at a Palace Resort and we are now looking into booking at another Palace Resort because of our experience. We LOVED this resort so much!! Can't wait to go back!!

This resort is located in a great spot. Walk into town and do some shopping or grab something at the Farmacia. Catch the ferry to Cozumel, or take a tour to Tulum which is less than an hour away.

The service was exceptional, the entire property was impeccably clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We had a wonderful experience overall. The only downside was the presence of a large amount of sargassum on the beach, but of course, that’s a natural occurrence and beyond the hotel’s control.

I love the location but most important it is the staff is so polite and welcoming all the time. I hope that in the description of the oceanview rooms, they would mention if balcony is part of the room. The beach is getting eroded but it is not hotel problem but climate result. Love the staff, the quiet ambience, shows at night time and walk around hotel. The food in the restaurants was fantastic

The service in the restaurants was very poor and unfriendly. They also had many rules regarding reservations and opening hours. The pool closed early, and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the pool bar was still closed. The only VIP benefit we received was a room upgrade. Otherwise, the service at the facilities was average.
