This UNESCO World Heritage architectural wonder was constructed more then 2,500 years ago to protect the Chinese from fierce northern tribes. According to researchers, General Xu Da constructed and completed Mutianyu from the ruins of the previous wall, built during the Qi dynasty under the supervision of the early Ming emperors.
