I exchanged tickets at Saphan Thaksin pier, although the wait to exchange tickets was a bit long, the staff was very enthusiastic in helping me exchange. The train moved quite fast, the interior was spacious and beautiful.

The hop-on, hop-off format was very useful but the maps & timetable were confusing, and the number of boats arriving & departing at similar times meant we almost boarded the wrong boat several times. Staff at the ticket office had minimal English, Google translate helped but even then questions had to be repeated a few times. Staff at the wharves were too busy & unwilling to share information about which boat was coming in or leaving, or their routes, adding to the uncertainty and confusion. The trip itself was beautiful but surprisingly hot.
