PO Sumber Alam’s history began in 1969, when it was established by Thung Tjie Hing under the name Tresno, with only one bus in its fleet. Thung Tjie Hing then handed down the business to his son and grandchildren, who renamed it to Hidup Baru. It was not until 1975 that the company became Sumber Alam and established as a family-owned business. In its early days, PO Sumber Alam’s fleet was limited. The bus company (PO) only had six buses that were used to serve the intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) night route of Yogyakarta – Jakarta. In 1984, Judi Setijawan Hambali, Thung Tjie Hing's grandson, became the sole owner of Sumber Alam since all of his brothers chose to quit the business. Since then, Judi has built an unyielding power to develop Sumber Alam. He made a number of changes, including creating new routes that were untouched by the competitors. Assisted by his wife, Retno Harlani Judana, and all of the employees, this bus company was finally be able to sustain the business. Currently, PO Sumber Alam has a fleet of 400 buses. It continues to grow by serving the short-distance or intercity and intra-provincial (AKDP) routes, as well as tourism buses. In serving the AKAP routes, Sumber Alam uses large-size fleets with Hino and Mercedes-Benz engines. These buses serve the lower middle class with classes ranging from the AC with toilet class, AC non-toilet class, AC economy class, non-AC patas class, and non-AC economy class. As for the AKDP routes, Sumber Alam uses a medium-size fleet of buses and minibusses, such as Isuzu Elf. PO Sumber Alam’s service quality is also known as excellent. Though it only serves the economy class, the bus company always prioritizes the satisfaction of its passengers. The entire crew works according to the company's vision, which to become the top bus choice in Indonesia. It is no wonder that PO Sumber Alam is still in high-demand after almost 50 years operating. This bus company has received a number of prestigious awards, including the best economic AKAP bus in 2005 and 2007 and the Lifetime Achievement award in the road transportation category in 2011, both by Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation. PO Sumber Alam’s fleet was also once listed as the longest and most luxurious bus in Indonesia. This modified fleet won an award from the Indonesian World Record Museum in 2009. Today, PO Sumber Alam is managed by the next generation, Anthony Steven Hambali, with a headquarter on Jl. Pangeran Diponegoro No. 164, Kutoarjo, Purworejo, Central Java. PO Sumber Alam has also expanded its business to opening gas stations and restaurants, all to support the bus operation activities. Not only that, PO Sumber Alam also opened a tourism park called Sumber Adventure Center. As one way to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus, PO Sumber Alam is a PO that plays an active role in ensuring the safety of its passengers while traveling during the pandemic. One of the efforts made by PO Sumber Alam is to collaborate with Hino Diponegoro University and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) to make Bio Smart & Safe Buses. This Bio Smart & Safe Bus is specifically made to reduce the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus in the bus cabin. Some of the features installed in the Bio Smart & Safe include the arrangement of seats that are spaced or 1-1-1, the position of the AC inlet that is adjusted like on an airplane, and the cabin material that is covered with Nano Silver.

PO Sumber Alam Terms & Conditions

1. Children sitting on the parent’s lap can ride the bus for free. However, children must buy a full price ticket if they need an individual seat.

2. Maximum baggage is 10 kg. Otherwise, passenger will have to pay an extra charge.

3. Passengers are not allowed to carry dangerous items, animals, and durians.

4. Sumber Alam will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or mix up of personal items.

5. Passenger failing to arrive at the boarding point on time cannot ask for a refund and their tickets will be canceled.

6. Departure time, bus type, and bus route can change without prior notice due to operational reasons.

7. If the bus is canceled, passengers will get a full refund.

8. Any claims made by passengers, such as a claim for bus delay or accidents, cannot amount more than the ticket price.

PO Sumber Alam Refund Policy

1. To cancel your ticket and ask for a refund, call Sumber Alam at (0275) 641018 / 641093 / 0811 259 318.

2. Bring your official identification document (KTP/SIM) and Traveloka e-ticket when canceling your ticket booking.

3. Cancellation can only be done at the latest 24 hours before departure time.

4. Refund amount is 75% of the ticket price.

5. Refund amount will be returned via bank transfer.

PO Sumber Alam Reschedule Policy

1. To reschedule, call Sumber Alam at (0275) 641018 / 641093 / 0811 259 318, or go to Sumber Alam office at your departure point.

2. Reschedule can only be done at the latest 1 day before departure.

3. Once you have rescheduled your bus, you cannot ask for another reschedule.

4. Bring your official identification document (KTP/SIM) and Traveloka e-ticket when rescheduling.

5. Get your new ticket at the Sumber Alam office at your new departure point.
