What Is Different from Tourist Attractions in New Normal?

Who does not miss travelling here? It seems that everyone must have been impatient to be able to revisit their favourite tourist attractions.

Tourism is one of the worst-affected industries by the emergence of the COVID-19, which is rapidly spreading to all parts of the world. The impact is even more significant, especially since the government imposed the PSBB (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar or Large-scale SocialRestrictions) in various regions in the country. Many famous tourist attractions are also affected and have closed their doors temporarily, such as Taman Mini Indonesia, Dufan, and Museum Angkut.

At the moment, Indonesia is preparing to begin loosening PSBB periodically, and many tourist attractions have started to reopen. Of course, the operation now will not run the same as the pre-pandemic. The operational process will be equipped with the implementation of a health protocol so that visitors can be relatively safe when having recreation.

So, what has changed from the favourite tourist attractions in this new normal era? Check out the following article!

Ticket sales are only made online

Previously visitors could come and buy tickets directly at the location. Now various tourist attractions have begun to follow the government’s recommendation to sell tickets online. If you want to visit, you must first purchase tickets on each website or through the reservation platform, one of which is Traveloka Xperience.

This is done to eliminate the queue of ticket purchases and the contact that occurs with physical tickets. Besides, by selling tickets online, the manager will be able to limit the number of visitors each day through the allocation of the number of tickets.

Restrictions on the number of visitors and operating hours

One of the things evenly applied on all lines—from public transportation to tourist attractions—during new normal is the limit of 50% of visitors compared to the number before the pandemic. Physical distancing is still an essential way to prevent the spread of viruses, so this needs to be implemented so that you can continue to relax safely.

Besides limiting the number, some locations also apply various other limitations. Pregnant women, children under the age of 5, elderlies over 50 years old, and school groups are not permitted to enter tourist areas at least for the first phase of this transition period.

Not only the number of visitors, but operating hours are also reduced only until the afternoon. For example, Dufan and Seaworld only operate until 5 pm, Ragunan Zoo until 4 pm, and Taman Safari until 4 pm.

Non-cash payment for all transactions

To reduce transmissions occurring through contacts, non-cash payments have begun to be applied in all areas of tourist attractions—starting from ticket reservations, parking payments, food and beverage purchases, to souvenirs.

Application of health protocols for visitors

While on location, various protocols are also applied. Some of them are checking visitors’ body temperature before entering the tourist area, placing a queue distance sign, and using disinfectants regularly. Visitors are also always required to wear masks whenever and wherever and are encouraged to bring their own tableware to eat and drink.

Here you go, some of the protocols implemented by tourist attractions’ managers to minimize your risk of exposure to the virus when visiting. So, there is no need to be too afraid anymore if you want to go back for a walk with friends and family.

Effective from July 2020, Traveloka Xperience is collaborating with partners in the CleanXperience program as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the new normal era. In this program, Traveloka Xperience partners are committed to implementing the CHS (Clean Health Safety) standard, where visitors’ health is a top priority starting from the transaction process to the service delivery.

This CHS standard applies from tourist attractions, beauty salons, massages & spas, playgrounds, to sports venues. Of course, you also need to implement a personal health protocol to stay safe during your next visit.
