We love winter and autumn in Gold Coast. Why?

Well, you can expect cooler weather with clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine – imagine aircon weather but OUTDOORS! Enjoy all your thrills, adventure and shopping without breaking into sweat!!

Here’ our top picks on what to do!

1. It’s whale watching season (June to October)

The humpback whale migration from Antarctica along the Queensland coastline has long been a key reason to visit Queensland in the winter months through to Autumn. There are many opportunities for whale watching on the Gold Coast with tours at Main Beach and Surfers Paradise, including Sea World Cruises and Whales in Paradise.

2. Cycle and enjoy the cool weather and the endless coastal views!

Explore the Gold Coast Oceanway - the 36-kilometre network of shared bike and pedestrian pathways that trace along the city’s iconic coastline. This is where you'll find the locals from sunrise each morning: walking, running and cycling beside views money can't buy.

No matter where you've chosen to stay on the Gold Coast, make your way to the esplanade and get moving. You'll find plenty of cafes to grab a cuppa for the walk, or if cycling is more your style there are a number of rental companies who can gear you up - try Kool Bike in Coolangatta, Fun for Rent in Surfers Paradise, or Mikes Bikes in Miam

3. New rides at Theme Parks!

SeaWorld has a whole new precint – The New Atlantis with 3 new rides ‘Leviathan, Trident and Vortex’.

Our pick will be the Leviathan roller-coaster - the world’s most iconic wooden coaster. Feel the thundering quest across wooden terrain, through exhilarating banked turns, crossovers, drops and dips. Make sure you combine you Seaworld day with a Heli and Jetboat experience too!

At Warner Bros. Movieworld, they have just launched The Flash: Speed Force - the first ride-within-a-ride experience in the Southern Hemisphere. This 30-metre-high attraction will take you on a thrilling journey where you'll reach speeds up to 70km/h. Prepare to twist, spin and speed along a 67-metre-long half-pipe track.

4. Spend your weekends at Markets!

Plan visits to the weekend markets on the Gold Coast. Shop for emerging designer and vintage fashion at The Village Markets at Burleigh Heads or enjoy food trucks at Home of The Arts (HOTA market). For night markets, make sure you check out the vibrant food truck scene at Miami Marketta or Surfers Paradise Beachfront Market. These markets are not open everyday so make sure to plan ahead

5. Skypoint Climb and observation deck

SkyPoint Climb takes place on the top of the Q1 building in Surfers Paradise and at 270 metres in the air, it is one of Australia's highest external building walks.

Starting on level 77 of SkyPoint Observation Deck, Climbers will enter the open air dressed in a full body suit and harness. Following their Climb guide, participants will then traverse up towards the crow's nest located at the highest point of the Climb at around 270 metres above the ground. Regular stops will be taken to admire the stunning 360 degree views of the Gold Coast region including the golden beaches, city skyline and lush green hinterland.
