Welcoming the Recovery of Indonesia’s Tourism, Traveloka Successfully Holds EPIC Sale to be Customers’ #LifeBuddy for Them to See The World Again 

Jakarta, June 16, 2022 - Along with the easing of government policies on travel and tourism, Traveloka, the lifestyle superapp in Southeast Asia, has successfully held its sixth EPIC Sale from May 31 to June 6, 2022 amid the growing public interest to travel again. In collaboration with more than 55,000 partners in the travel and tourism sector, Traveloka recorded nearly twofold increase in bookings compared to the previous EPIC Sale in October 2021. The increase also occurred in the number of daily visitors to Traveloka application during the EPIC Sale which reached more than 160%, where consumers can enjoy various offers of discounts up to 80% for various products and services.

This time, the Traveloka EPIC Sale was even more special because Traveloka was further reaffirming its commitment as #LifeBuddy of its customers to #SeeTheWorldAgain and fulfill their travel and lifestyle aspirations, as well as to help accelerate the recovery of the national tourism.

In addition to the increasing number of bookings, during the sixth EPIC Sale period, Traveloka found there was increasing trend of Staycation as a holiday option on weekends and mid-year school holidays from late June to early July. As a pioneer of the Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) payment system in Indonesia, Traveloka also recorded the highest PayLater usage during the EPIC Sale period for hotel transactions throughout the first half of 2022. The increase also occurred in the purchase of travel insurance by threefold compared to the second half of 2021. Apart from that, with the opening of borders and international flights, the latest EPIC Sale also showed an increase of consumer interest in international destinations by tenfold compared to the previous EPIC Sale in October 2021, where Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand were listed as the favorite countries of Indonesian citizens.

During the 7 days of the EPIC Sale program, Traveloka recorded that the most popular products among customers were Accommodations such as hotels, resorts, and villas; Transportation such as airline tickets, trains, and buses; and Xperience services for attractions, Spa & Beauty and Playground. Jakarta, Bandung and Bali were the most popular cities for accommodation products, airline tickets, land transportation, and Xperience. The activities that users were most interested in during this period were staycations, hunting for food discounts at Traveloka EATS, taking planes for healing to Bali and shopping to Singapore, visiting playgrounds and amusement parks with children as well as enjoying the beautiful scenery on the train that took them to tourist destinations.

Through the EPIC Sale program, Traveloka also strengthens its position as a technology company. By taking advantages of the EPIC Live program, Traveloka’s partners could provide interesting offers through live streaming on Traveloka’s application and social media account, which also gained a twofold increase in number of viewers compared to the EPIC Sale in October 2021.

To attract more customers to take part in the EPIC Sale momentum, Traveloka had started to build the enthusiasm for the EPIC Sale from May 27 to 30, 2022 by offering promotion through the EPIC Referral Raise A Pet that allowed users to win daily discount coupons, and had been followed by around 400,000 users. The opportunity to get additional discounts was also available in the Game Farm feature which contains a variety of games with prizes that allow users to get discounts for airline ticket purchase. More than 140,000 Traveloka users accessed the Game Farm feature and more than 1,100 coupons were distributed during the EPIC Sale period. Traveloka also opened exhibition booths in Semarang, Central Java and Medan, North Sumatra to provide hands-on excitement to more than 1,500 visitors. A total of 3,000 coupons had also been distributed to consumers who visited the Traveloka EPIC Sale booths.
