The property was exceptionally spacious, and at no point did it feel cramped or confined. In its heyday, it would undoubtedly have been an exclusive and impressive place to stay.
While the property retains plenty of character, some of the fixtures and fittings are now showing their age. A few of the carpets would benefit from being replaced, and our room had a noticeable damp smell on arrival. Fortunately, once we opened the windows and aired the room, the issue was resolved.
The hosts were warm, welcoming, and very accommodating throughout our stay, which made for an enjoyable overall experience.

Clean facility, great location, somewhat reasonable rates. Only issue was with check-in, where it was difficult to understand all of the information given in two minutes. Also could have used a bit more supplies in the unit, instead of having to keep going to the front desk. Nice to have the gated entrance.

The room/building we stayed in had many repairs that needed to be done and things that should have been better cleaned. Examples: water gutter above our unit had rusted and had several chunks missing, so the water came down as a waterfall right outside our window when it rained. The ceiling fan in one room creaked when we turned it on. There were mold spots behind the pillows on one bed, and of the towels we were provided with, some had stains in them.
However, the kitchen, washer, and dryer worked as they should and were very useful. The location is great, as it is in a quieter area outside of the city center, but still close enough for a 20 minute walk to get there. For the price, the stay was decent enough. You get what you pay for.

Heinrich and his wife were great hosts. Beautiful clean apartments close to the Esplanade. We stored our baggage with them when we arrived and before leaving as our flights arrived early and left late. They gave us really great local recommendations for trips and local fresh barramundi. The apartment is gated for extra security and is well stocked with a kitchen, tea, coffee and the essentials. It was a lovely week in Cairns.
