Great all round

Good for if you need a bed for one night, rooms are dimly lit but it does the job if you need a place for one night.

Staff were amazing, welcoming and friendly, Hotel was just as described, old style pub accommodation, basic rooms are comfortable and clean, the building itself is a bit beat up in places but that adds to the charm. it was a great place to stay. construction site across the road was a bit noisy

The hotel itself was fine, bare-bones as far as the rooms but a nice bar with good food, friendly staff. However, the Expedia listing did not say that the rooms all have shared bath. It wasn't a problem for me, especially because the hotel wasn't full, but some people would not be happy to learn it at check-in.

The noise affected my sleep

Rooms were clean and quiet considering the construction nearby. Shower and toilet facilities were clean and despite the block arrangement was reasonably private. Location was good - short walk from most points of interest.

A great old pub with lots of character. Basic facilities (reflected in price) but clean and safe. Great staff and fabulous location.

The location is convinient if you don't have a car. It's a basic, city based accomodation. It has a bar and the restaurant downstairs, hosts live events, expect some level of noise. It's a heritage building and the decor matches the era. Relaxed, no fuss vibe.

Very central and the Markets are fantastic. Chinatown also next door. Easy to get around walking or by tram. But unfortunately the noise was a problem. Friday and Saturday live music. Construction work outside still ongoing from 5AM.

We bought the cheapest room and still had balcony access. Felt super safe. Friendly staff. Nice alfresco area. Everything just makes sense.

It ok pub room, my only issue was lack of parking

The Hotel Metropolitan is a traditional Australian Hotel, with shared bathroom facilities, but it gives excellent value for money. Given its central location and all-round convenience, it's a bargain! We get what we pay for. If you're after a simple base in Adelaide, and only need a room to sleep, with easy access to bathroom facilities, at a bargain price then look no further! Although my room (queen size, balcony room) perhaps looked a little tired, it was clean, with a very comfortable bed and lovely soft fluffy towels. The bathroom(s) were always clean, and I did not have wait once. (The weather was hot, so I showered twice a day!) Despite the appearance of a busy and successful and convivial pub, my room was quiet. The 'pub' side of the business closed at midnight. I was in Adelaide for the last two days of the Festival (Friday and Saturday night). I had spent plenty on events, and planned to eat and drink well. I did not travel to this beautiful city to spend time in a hotel room. If you need a basic, convenient, safe and clean base in Adelaide, this place is a winner! The pub staff were friendly and welcoming. I will certainly stay here again.

We spent a terrible night at this hotel. No ensuite, no lamp, no tea and coffee making facilities, single beds with stained doona covers, noise until midnight and terrible area around the hotel. The only highlight was the market over the road and when we left. Terrible place. Don’t recommend it at all.

Liked the central location and friendly people

If you want cheap and cheerful hotel accommodation this is a great option, Staff were very friendly. Room was basic but comfortable and shared toilets and showers were clean. I thought great value for money.

Clean but could do with air conditioning

Good overall

Felt a bit unsafe due to balcony outside room as had 2 sets of old doors open onto balcony that anyone could access. Had smokers talking outside window and someone walking past at 2145 at night. Bolts in old double doors that open onto balcony not secured when entered room if had not checked anyone could have gained access to room. Also left an unlocked small bag zipped up and folded in a room downstairs that only staff access, left only clothes in bag so didn't feel needed to lock. When went to collect the bag it was unfolded and unziped and a small washing bag inside had also been gone thru. For the feeling of being unsafe and the bags being opened would not personally stay in hotel again.

Budget friendly can’t complain except for the works happening next door but that’s not in the hotels control
