We had an executive twin room which was large and had a great view. The free mini bar and daily free drink at the roof top bar was an unexpected surprise and came in handy. Great location for public transport, shopping and eating.

I arrived before check in (which was at 2pm), and they said they would hold my luggage and email me if they finished cleaning a room early. I wandered for 3 hours before returning at 1:30. The room was ready, but I never got an email. Fine, not a big deal.
They told me my luggage was brought to my room. I went to the room, and no luggage was there. I called them to ask about it and they then came to the room and brought me up someone else’s suitcases. Then I had to go downstairs with them to a couple of random rooms to look for my things. I felt like this was pretty unprofessional.
The bathroom in the room had not been cleaned well. There were hairs on the floor in the shower, which was pretty gross.

The Mayfair would once have been a beautiful hotel, but time has ravaged it and you can tell. There’s immovable stains all over the carpet, mould in the bathroom, and the mattresses are far too soft to have a comfortable nights sleep (though this is personal preference). The breakfast is also quite average considering the price of the hotel - I can get the same breakfast at other budget hotels that include it in the price. The only saving grace is the staff, who were lovely to deal with.
Overall it’s a nice hotel, but the price point needs to come down or they need to do some work on keeping it upgraded.

The room was poorly cleaned. Visable drink rings on all surfaces. Sticky batroom floor. What was the most disturbing was a bed that smelt damp and musty, mould on the quilt, what appreared to be a dry blood stain on the sheet, and a big yellow booger inside the sleeve of the bathrobe.
I insisted on staff to come and look, they refused and asked me to email photos. I did and have heard nothing back.

The Mayfair was very clean, comfortable, staff were helpful and friendly, good proximity to shops, the Fringe and tram to Glenelg.
