Oaks Sydney Castlereagh Suites

I've stayed here a number of times and I keep coming back. It's an excellent location, close to Central and Chinatown (even closer to Thaitown) and excellent value for money, especially if you are staying for a few days and can use the kitchenette. It's got a lovely pool which is well-maintained, and the gym is fine too. It's not a fancy place but it's really solid.

Clean room and staff very friendly

Fabulous location between Central and Museum, and 2 light rail stations nearby. Loads of eating choices nearby. Room was good sized and very comfortable. Kitchen facilities excellent. Free to air TV was tricky to access (via Foxtel... but the upside was that it had Foxtel!) Bathroom facilities were a bit tired, but perfectly functional. Bed super comfy. Good wi-fi. Recommended for short or longer stays.

Central location. Clean but housekeeping was only every Friday. You have to ask for room essentials if you don’t won’t to wait until Friday. Staff were nice. No lockers at the pool. I was on the 9th floor and the train and traffic noise was bad. Staff were pleasant.

I stayed in a studio. The air conditioning was terrible - sounds like an engine, I could not sleep with it on. The old curtains didn’t meet, so large gaps let light in. There were no electrical sockets near the bed. The cooking hot plate had some multi sockets under the sink which meant the plug didn’t stay in unless you got the angle right. I let reception know my concerns on check out. The positives were the reception staff were nice, the room was clean. It felt safe and secure. The bed was very comfortable, and I could open the window a crack which was good in winter, but the city street is noisy, to be expected. The location is very convenient.

Very comfortable 2 bedroom unit, with full kitchen & 2 bathrooms. Very quiet even though it's close to the railway. Perfect position for the Capitol Theatre & easy stroll to Chinatown. All staff were wonderful to deal with. Would definitely stay here again.

Clean area good size rooms ( I needed a queen and two singles). The double bathroom was a surprise. The spa and pool were fabulous

Great friendly staff

The lack of hot water two days in a row was the main issue. I asked for a room with 2 beds and only got 1. The room was not mentioned to have no housekeeping. It was also very noisy. I would not recommend or stay again.

Excellent location on the perimeterof Chinatown, so much good food. The staff was always competent , friendly and helpful- top marks! My 9 day stay was perfect.

Cleanliness wasn't the best .... Especially in the pool / spa area which was disappointing!! Room was ok. Bathroom a bit gross too mainly down to bring old and dated I think. Location was awesome! Close to so many things! If not walking distance only a short trip to get to where you wanted to go.

Second time weve stayed , kitchens both equipped differently, this one only had one shelf in oven and no coffee machine . But very clean

Had an issue with my room as it was small and smelt. Very noisy banging from the air conditioning. Sent a message to the company demanding for a refund there has been no response from the company. I went to see the staff on reception who did move us to a bigger room. I honestly don’t believe it’s worth the money and I would suggest that people should find alternative accommodation.

Large apartment in quiet area. Walkable, central and handy to the train.

Everything was exactly what i wanted.

The Oak is in a great location in "Thai Town" in the Sydney CBD. The apartment was a good size, clean, and everything worked. It also had a roomy balcony that faced east, and with the nice weather, we got enjoy afternoon drinks looking over the suburbs. Check-in was easy with friendly staff, and I was pleased with the very fast lifts, something handy since our room was on the 27th floor. Despite seeming quite busy, we never had to wait more than a minute to get up or down. The location is great. Quick access from the airport in a taxi or train. There are so many places around to eat that you are spoilt for choice. My favourite breakfast place was the Naked Duck, about 100m away from the apartment. Chat Thai is just another 50m for the best Thai food in Sydney. There are many other great Thai , Japanese, and Chinese restaurants all within a 2 minute walk, and plenty of nice pubs for a few ales and reasonably priced steak or seafood meals. If you venture a little further down to Barangaroo area on the waterfront, I'd recommend Old Town Hong Kong for some of the best Cantonese food you'll find in Sydney. The hotel location is great for getting around. Trains, buses, and light rail (trams) can take you anywhere you want to go. I was there for both business and pleasure and we used the public transport several times. Cheap, fast, comfortable, safe. Overall other than the room maybe needing a coat of paint, you can't really fault the Oaks for the stay and the location!

The kitchen was lacking a few things like a flat

The room was spotless and smelled clean and fresh. The kitchen was well equipped and the washing machine and tumble dryer were a welcome bonus. There are shops close by for essentials and the location is very good.
