What an amazing hotel & room. This is one of our favorites of all time. We stayed for 3 nights Food: Every meal was fantastic as we ate breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The fry jacks at breakfast were superb. The prices were reasonable for the meal we ate. The selection changed at each meal. Even our picky eater was very happy. Highly recommend the cheese tasting which you will need to reserve in advance. We lucked out and were able to join due to a cancellation. Staff: Very helpful and super friendly. Superb service. We got the feeling that the staff wants the hotel to succeed and is concerned about each detail. Room: We stayed in the Luxury suite. The view from the balcony was stunning. We were one of the highest rooms. There were a lot of steps to get to the rooms up top(~136 of them), but totally worth it if you can do it. The 'outdoor' shower was a great experience. The room had two showers; the outdoor one overlooking the jungle was something. The room was very clean and well-stocked, including water. Make sure you have a flashlight or a phone with a light for walking around at night. Tours: We booked the ATM(caves) and Mayan ruins tours through the hotel. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and fun. The ATM caves were the highlight of the trip. As long as you keep active and don't have serious knee or back issues, this was a truly unique and memorable experience. The artifacts were left untouched(other than a few mishaps with tourists).

Property was great, beds were comfortable, food was DELICIOUS, atmosphere was perfect, and everyone was friendly and helpful! Well thought out by Ian and Ella and well executed by them and their staff! Was really great to be able to talk to Ian in person since they live right above the lodge! Would love to come back but would CERTAINLY book direct with Ian's instead of through Expedia for this property in the future. Expedia makes it sound all-inclusive, but there were limitations (no bar snacks, only local-alcohol (not a huge deal for us) but no adventures were included (other than complimentary guided botanical gardens tour) since we booked through Expedia, whereas adventures would have been if we booked direct. Like booking through Expedia because we can book flights at the same time; and have never run into these discrepancies between all-inclusivity at other stays we'd run through Expedia. On the day our one excursion with the lodge was cancelled - due to weather - we found other activities to fill the 'void' quickly...checking out the Inland Blue Hole across the street from the property's driveway (just a short 10-20 min walk), walking the botanical gardens, and getting signed up that morning for afternoon horseback riding for our kids! We felt very safe and taken care of at Caves Branch and will recommend it to anyone! We'd love to come back for a longer stay to experience more of this wonderful country, property, and all the beauty and adventure it beholds!

Caves Branch is a beautiful place to stay, in the jungle surrounded by flowers, trees, and native birds. We (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in one of the Jungle Suites, separated from other suites by trees; very private. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and hear the birds singing, or listen to the distant sound of howler monkeys at night. There is a small botanical garden on-site, free kayaks that you can borrow to paddle on the river, and just walking the paths is lovely. The foods was incredible. A breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, omelet station, and pastries/pancakes every morning, a different 3-course dinner every night. We have dietary restrictions (1 lactose intolerant person, 2 gluten intolerant people) and we had plenty to eat. Vegetarians also have options, and I think vegans would do ok as well, though with less variety. You'd only be really restricted if you have multiple requirements, e.g. vegan AND gluten free. We did not do the tours the resort offers but heard great things about them from other guests. The only thing I'll note is that it is a combination of luxurious and rustic, as noted on the Caves Branch home website (though not necessarily on Hotels.com). The cabanas have screen walls (with curtains all around that can be closed for privacy), and some large bugs did get inside. There is an AC unit directly over the queen bed that will cool the bed area but not the whole cabin (bc of the screen walls). We loved it but it's not for everyone.

Firstly the Pros. The resort looks amazing, great scenery and surroundings. They definitely try to create an experience. The food is fresh and a lot of care and attention is given to it, the portions are also good. Swimming pools is nice and it is next to a river which you can swim in or kayak if weather permits The cons. Although the service is great when it works, it is inconsistent, they don't always respond quickly. They muddled my son's birthday cake and gave us the wrong cake which got mixed up with a couples anniversary cake, this was a massive blunder and could not be rectified. The pricing of the food is not clear and transparent, sometimes it's a buffet and sometime a fixed menu but the pricing is not clearly communicated. The onsite activities are over priced especially when you include resort fees on top. You could book these directly for cheaper if you have a car Sometimes it feels they pester you with booking activities There is no wifi in the rooms which is not great when it rains as you are mostly stuck in your room The rooms don't have windows instead they have mosquito nets, so if it gets really hot the AC in the room is not effective
