The Gold Standard of Belize – A Michelin-Level Private Island Experience! If you are looking for the only place worth staying in Belize, Shaka Caye is it. From the very moment I stepped off the plane, the staff made us feel like royalty. Their attention to detail is truly unmatched; they anticipate your needs before you even have to ask. The culinary experience was the biggest surprise of all. I have dined all over the world, and the food here tasted like I was eating at a 3-star Michelin restaurant. Every meal was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. A special thank you to Glenda and her entire staff. Their warmth and professionalism made our trip feel deeply personal and incredibly special. They don’t just provide a service; they provide a memory. I won't stay anywhere else in Belize from now on. Please enjoy the brief video and pictures attached—though they truly don't do the beauty and hospitality of this place justice!

We were not sure what to expect when we booked this small island vacation but decided to try it and keep our expectations to a minimum. We just returned after staying at Shaka Caye for the last week. 12/11/25-12/18/25. We were blown away by the food, the accommodating staff, the island beauty, the tasty drinks, and the easy of walking around the island. Our room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, the AC was cold, the bathrooms were well appointed with hot showers, hair dryers and a straightener. The twice daily housekeeping spoiled us. The mini refrigerator was in perfect repair and well stocked daily with sodas, water, and snacks. Our room had 2 robes for use during our stay. We truly enjoyed having access to the double kayaks and the paddle boards which were in good repair. Shaka Caye ‘s staff want to meet every expectation. I fell in love with the fryjacks that the chef prepared for us daily and I made mention of how I would love to learn to make them. The next thing I knew I had an invitation for a fryjacks lesson. We went on a private snorkeling tour with Edwin and he made every effort to show us interesting fish and inform us about the reef. It was such a privilage to have been spoiled by such wonderful people. Percy, Michael, Roddy, and Obey all helped make our stay special. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway and you are comfortable relaxing, swimming, fishing, and enjoying fresh food this place is such a great find.

My wife and I have just returned from Shaka Caye, and overall, we had a pleasant experience. However, there are a few things to consider before making a reservation. This resort is private, which means you won't have access to certain amenities that you might typically expect. If you're looking to venture off the resort, you can visit Caye Caulker, but be prepared to spend over $200 for just a few hours off the island. While Caye Caulker is quite small, it offers a nice escape if you're seeking a break from the resort's privacy. Again, this is extra. The resort provides three meals daily (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), but it could benefit from a wider variety of options. More choices for each meal would be appreciated. The bed was somewhat comfortable, but the power does go out for about 30 minutes each day. Additionally, there is a limited selection of snacks in the room (no alcohol included). You will also need to pay extra for premium liquor and wine. Daisy, Percy, and Michael were great staff members. Tipping is encouraged after your stay, typically around 10% of your total bill, in addition to what you have already paid. When we return to Belize, we will likely look for another accommodation option, but overall, it was a decent first experience.

A Romantic Island Escape Shaka Kai in Believe is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had stepped into paradise. The bungalows were spotless and beautifully designed, with two large windows overlooking the stunning blue sea — waking up to that view was unforgettable. The food was amazing and clearly made with care, though my husband wished there were a few more options on the menu. Still, everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The staff truly made the experience exceptional — friendly, attentive, and always going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy. This isn’t really a place for kids in my opinion, but if you’re looking for a quiet, romantic escape surrounded by natural beauty, Shaka Kai is absolutely perfect. We can’t wait to go back! ---

The staff was amazing. The rooms were very clean. The food was great! We stayed from Friday to Friday and all the food options were different from breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. My husband and I came here for my birthday and our anniversary. They made that day very special. They decorated the boat. Then in the evening we had a nice romantic decorated dinner by the fireplace. They came out singing happy birthday with a cake. It just felt like we were on a couple’s retreat. Oh and bring extra bug spray, aloe Vera gel and alcohol. Those bugs will tear you up.

It was a delightful private small island. Only accessible by boat, so if you want to get away from it all this place is for you! Excellent staff, good food for a resort, and with capacity only for 35 guests you may find yourself completely alone like we did for our first few days. Kayak over to a private beach and swim with the fish (no sharks!) overall a very relaxing vacay!

Private Island Paradise with Exceptional Service Shaka Caye Our stay at Shaka Caye was magical. From the moment we landed, everything was perfectly arranged. We were picked up at the airport, taken to the dock, and transferred by private boat to this stunning private island. Shaka Caye is peaceful, exclusive, and ideal for anyone who wants to disconnect. We stayed in a beachfront villa, and waking up to turquoise sea views from our balcony while enjoying fresh coffee and breakfast was unforgettable. What truly sets this place apart is the personalized service. The staff was warm, attentive, and always made sure we felt comfortable—whether bringing piña coladas to us on the beach or checking in just at the right times. We took a guided tour where we saw nurse sharks up close—an incredible and safe experience. I celebrated my birthday there, and the staff surprised me with a personalized cake and a romantic private dinner. Every detail felt thoughtful and sincere. If you’re looking for privacy, natural beauty, and exceptional service in a quiet, Shaka Caye is the perfect destination. We left completely relaxed and already dreaming of coming back.

My family and I just got back from our stay at Shaka Caye and I have to say that all of the positive reviews are dead on. The cottages are literally a step away from the beach and are well appointed (comfortable beds, plenty of space, hammock on the porch) with an amazing view of the ocean. We were picked up at the airport and driven to a small marina where we had a short 30 minute boat ride to the island. We were greeted with delicious drinks and smiles from the staff. Our bags were brought to our cottages and were given a mini tour of the island. We had no complaints whatsoever regarding our stay, but the 2 highlights for us were the absolutely AMAZING staff - Glenda the manager for keeping everything running smoothly, Obie and Michael at the bar with endless drink choices, Daisy for arranging our excursions, Edwin and Mark for our boat trips (2 snorkeling trips), the groundskeepers and lastly the kitchen staff. For the kitchen staff, this was by far the best all-inclusive food we've ever had compared to other resorts we've stayed at. Multiple choices for each meal, everything prepared fresh - DELICIOUS! Thank you to the Shaka Caye staff for an amazing vacation that we will always remember and cherish!!!
