It was by far and away the best hotel experience we’ve had in Canada. The room was exquisite, beautifully clean and well equipped and the outside seating area was lovely. The bathroom was gorgeous with a clawfooted bath and separate shower and the L’occitaine toiletries were a lovely touch. All in all we couldn’t fault it.

It is definitely a rustic clean property. The service was excellent too. The restaurant food was very nice - we tried breakfast and dinner. It is also only 5 mins by car to Banff and hence very convenient. The only issue with the place is that it has no AC. Two folks mentioned that this is because it is in a National Park but we did go to hotels that had AC. They did help in opening the window and getting an extra fan. But sleeping in the first night was hard since the temperature was high. It became better the next two days as the weather cooled down. One thing to watch out if you are going during hot weather.

Loved staying at the Buffalo Mountain Lodge, close to town but away from the business of Banff Avenue. My room was great, love the fireplace but too hot too put it on during the summer, can imagine it will be great in the winter. Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was lovely. Staff were great and really helpful. Great that the Roam Bus takes you direct to town and you are provided with a pass. Would definitely stay here again if I come back to Banff and will recommend it to others coming. thanks for a great stay!

We spent 5 nights at this lodge. It performed its function as a pleasant stay with good beds and quiet nights. Everything was clean and in good order. Pros included having a bus stop right in front and free bus passes at the front desk. There is a restaurant which has reasonable food at typical hotel prices. You need to make reservations for both breakfast and dinner, but they'll take walk-ins. There are no ameneties or activities other than a hot tub. No snack bar or store with snacks or traveling items so you'll need to bring your own. No playground for kids either. But if you are in Banff and need a place to sleep this lodge will do fine. Pro tip: If in need of snacks, etc there is a Co-Op Gas Bar with an excellent convenience store (and A&W) attached. Avoid the long walk by taking stairs that are 150m west of the lodge on Tunnel Mountain Road. At the end of the stairs turn right and 20m away is another set of stairs which will take you to Marmot St which leads to Banff Ave.

Great rustic hotel. Enjoyed the lobby! Absolutely loved the hot tub! Such a great area to relax after long days of hiking/walking. Pretty far and steep walk back to hotel from downtown, but the bus stop is right in front on the road. Often crowded bus on the way back to the hotel in the evenings. Bus comes about every 20 min and you have a schedule. Nice comfortable room with a fireplace but it was summer so did not get to enjoy. Room smelled like the fireplace so that wasn’t my favorite. Shower was so confusing to work! After 4 nights, still would get water everywhere! Comfortable stay. Parking was limited but it mostly wasn’t a problem. Staff were very kind and helpful. They loaned out bear spray to us. Overall good stay.

Very much enjoyed our stay at this lodge. It was in a nice, quiet location with easy access to downtown. It was perfect for our base to explore Banff and the surrounding mountains. Would definitely stay here again! I did miss having a microwave in the room though to heat up leftovers. Other than that, all was lovely!

Check in was quick and easy. They do give an actual key rather than a key card. We got upgraded to a junior suite from a king room which was nice to have the extra space. There is a hot tub which we enjoyed one night. They also provide a 3 day bus pass. We were there 3 nights. We had breakfast there one day as well which was good. The only thing I didn’t realize is that there is no AC but the room cools down at night so it wasn’t an issue for us. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying here.

Room was decent. The setting was beautiful. The room was hot and stuffy though. No air conditioning. Room was crowded with large furniture. Parking lot was awful to get in and out. Next to no parking for guests.

Great property, they were sold out so we couldn't get an extra pillow or a fan and it was hot. But the property is beautiful, and nicely maintained, front desk very sweet and helpful. One complaint the restaurant had poor customer service , the manager seemed annoyed , and it wasn't a very friendly experience both times.
