The room really needed to be painted - lots of scuffs and areas where plaster was scraped off etc. Large patch of wall in the hall needed repair. I know it's a dorm but those repairs should be done before the public pays to stay. We only received one towel and no face cloth and there were 2 of us staying for the night. Bed was very comfortable - another pillow or two would have been nice for sitting up in bed. Breakfast was good - thought we would be getting continental but there were eggs, bacon and pancakes available as well. Brown toast would be a nice option rather than just white bread!

I wasn't there long enough to form an opinion outside of my arrival and room. My 2nd message from Carey Lodge which likely contained my door code and some entrance instructions would not open so I had a bit of a hard time figuring it all out while exhausted and in a lot of pain. Expedia thankfully supplied the door code. I arrived 5 minutes after reception closed. Once to my room I.realized it had not been cleaned. I found a buzzer by the entrance and contacted someone i could not hear for a couple minutes but eventually heard staff would come clean the room. Mistakes happen. My room was too warm, the fan rattled terribly, the bed was comfy, the toilet seat was falling off and super low, narrow shower, not very clean anywhere and no bedside table was a strange surprise. Do not recommend for someone with physical disabilities. Was quiet. Staff seemed friendly. Surrounded by beautiful grounds and buildings.

The lodge is an excellent choice if you value garden like community and gorgeous space of the bedroom & living room. The kitchen is the best I’ve ever seen! The only thing is you have to bring all cooking materials otherwise you have to drive quite a while to prepare all cooking materials. The breakfast is pretty good, you’ll be served all the traditional continental style meals.

A hundred dollars for a night would be fair, not 250.- that’s completely exaggerated for what it is. Nice surroundings though for walks.

I stayed here with my family of 5. Main thing to know: this is more a hostel than a hotel. Cons: a little mold in the bathroom and kitchen. Parking was sparse, and I don’t remember seeing directions for where to park if the small onsite lot was full. We arrived late at night and had to find alternate parking 10 minutes away. The kitchen in our unit smelled strongly of meals that had been cooked there before. The room description was inaccurate re. how many people our unit slept, and our son had to sleep on a non pullout couch. But there were huge pros for us: very affordable and more spacious compared to other Vancouver options; the included breakfast was filling; our unit had gorgeous views of the mountains, water, sunset, and big beautiful trees; the location on the UBC campus is really interesting and convenient - close to museums, takeout, a drugstore, and a beach, and not far from nice areas to tourist like Kitsilano, Granville Island, and Stanley Park. A good no frills and unique lodging option in Vancouver!

Spacious 2-bedroom suite and a good location for UBC campus events. However, there was no AC, only two fans, so I wouldn’t recommend it for summer stays. Breakfast was disappointing. Both the juice and coffee tasted watered down, and I only had one piece of toast.

I’ve stayed in a lot of properties throughout my life, from high end luxe to mediocre. We were very surprised at how run down and unkept Carey Centre is. We had two rooms over two nights. The first room had moldy shower walls and was in desperate need of painting. The towels were cheap and small. No shampoo or bath soap provided. No water or ice abaibke on our floor. If you didn’t fill your own bottle before 7:00 PM you were locked out of the main lobby area where the single home size water dispenser was located to serve the entire property. Day two we moved to another room. While there was wall-mounted soap and shampoo, there were no towels. Again, it was obvious the place hasn’t been painted or carpets clean in a long while. We Also thought it was odd there were wires dangling around - a/c connector plug hanging from the window (no a/c unit), door lock batteries hanging loose from the handle, and some kind of internet (booster) hanging from the hallway wall with the wires flopping in the wall. To summarize, the location is great when visiting UBC, but they clearly need to invest in being the property up to expectations of guests paying $160-$215/night.

The hotel is very low quality compared to the price. The mattress is low quality, pillows are very low quality and not comfortable at all. The furniture and the room setting is not of quality and dorm like setting. Only good for location inside campus. Staff is helpful
