We found Bromelias to be such a great place to stay. It had a much better location than the places in town because it was smack in a lush valley, allowing us to really enjoy nature (which is exactly why we went to Drake Bay in the first place). We had our own cabana and balcony (with hammock), our own bathroom and kitchen, and the price was really good. They have a washing machine you can use for free too. I had to ask how to use it, but the lady was so friendly and helpful, I was glad I asked. We saved a lot of money by having our own kitchen too. The cabana was a little rustic and definitely not fancy, but we really liked it. It had everything we needed and more. And we could tell they obviously constructed the place with care. One morning, we sat on our balcony while white-faced capuchin monkeys moved around in the trees immediately surrounding us. Two of them hung down so they were almost at eye level with us. It was amazing! This never would have happened if we had been staying at one of the accommodations along the street. There were so many gorgeous tropical birds and parrots too. We especially enjoyed watching a pair of mot mots who had a nest nearby. If you arrive after dark (or find you might be out until after dark), you will absolutely need a flashlight to navigate your way down into the valley from the road. It isn’t a long way, but it would be impossible to do in the dark. There are quite a few smaller grocery stores/convenience stores on the road.

If you want to get off the beaten path this is the one; while still maintaining some level of comfort and bug free-ness, forget about AC & Wifi though, but hey if you are looking to explore the jungles of CR why the hell do you need it! At least the Wi-Fi. Only little f-up was the communication. Even with my girfriend as a fluent translator I somehow managed to not understand that even though you have an expedia booking the "Hotel still collects the Fee!" even though it was clearly stated on the expedia booking. It was a combination of me not fully reading my itinerary (who does that right?), tired, little tipsy and no espanol. Any who the place was great but just dont get freaked out if the guy asks you to follow him to his buddy's to cancel your expedia reservation and pay in cash or credit. Cash preferable. No banks in the whole of Bahia Drake which is literally a mud town when it rains. Make sure you have 4x4 if driving there!!! Otherwise you were right in the jungle with some of the most prestine beaches on the Americas Pacific coast a short hike away, not to mention the rivers!

We prepaid $45/night after the 10% "tax" for two nights. The owner was a sleazy salesmen type person that had an excuse for everything. The room has no AC, one little fan and no wifi, which was fine for us we are in Costa Rica. However, wifi was a listed ammentity. The main reason for our bad experience is because on the first night that we tried to spend there, huge bugs kept flying in the room between the gaps in the windows and doors. We had a huge black wasp flying around in our room and as we were trying to get the wasp to go away a moth the size of a bat flew in the room. We left that night and never came back. It would be impossible and dangerous to stay in this room with bugs flying in all night. We ended up getting a room in town much nicer with AC and wifi and no bugs for cheaper. P.S. you better have 4 wheel drive if you are planning on going up their driveway. It's incredibly steep and narrow with loose gravel that we barely could make it up with 4 wheel drive.

Faut etre un peu alerte : pour accéder a l'hôtel (en haut du village) et a l'intérieur pour accéder aux logements. Cadre au coeur de la forêt.
