Royal Clifton Hotel

Shabby, dated, not clean, cluttered lobby, common areas and rooms; corridors and our room were overheated like a nursing home. Could not turn heat down in our room. No daily housekeeping services. Terse front desk staff. Tiny double bed in a room overlooking dumpsters both coils of electrical wiring (live, in service) sitting in a puddle of rain runoff on a flat area or roof between two wings of the hotel. Floors squeaked loudly with every step, both water taps in the bathroom dispensed hot water. Decaf instant coffee only for the in-room coffee maker. Would not return for any reason.

Been to this hotel before and loved it this visit was even better newly refurbished rooms lovely publicly areas everything was excellent especially the price keep up the good work

Very central for town centre ,promenade ,parks Good size room,clean and tidy,breakfast excellent

Overall good value, hotel was clean, car park very handy and hotel is in a great location. Room had been recently renovatedand had everything we needed. Only downside was the window opened out into a courtyard with no natural light coming in, and had a big fan or vent outside making a lot of noise all night. As it was so hot, needed the window open, so didnt sleep very well. Might not be an issue if you are a deep sleeper.

A beautiful hotel with so much potential, great location in Southport

Perfect for what we needed, the boys even enjoyed the 60s singer who performed. Breakfast was lovely!

Lovely place to stay but the heating is stuck on constantly so the heat is unbearable in the rooms

The photo are deceiving! The building is hot. The bed was dirty. The carpet was stained.

Old well worn building , scruffy outside area , Broken fittings in bathroom , Cheap thin toilet paper , grubby decor all round , no staff in breakfast room , people waiting to get in , nobody showing you to tables , Just Grim overall

Lovely clean rooms & lounge. Shame about the exterior but workis in progress to renovate it. Scaffolding had been erected. Staff very helpful & friendly. 24 hour parking for £5.

Room was clean and tidy

Was fairly nice. I emailed and had no response and the lock was broken on the door so we did get stuck in our room! Hotel parking is advertised at £5 but it is actually £10 for 24 hours. However, it was clean, comfortable and staff were friendly!

This is our 3 or 4 time we have stayed here for veterans Gala Dinner had a great night location good

Couldn’t even have a hot shower or a shower or bath no hot water not very happy at all also no spa facilities which was never mentioned disgusting

Great stay thursday night, great room, beds, cleanliness and great area for getting about. Friday night was awful, guests smoking weed in room near me, reported to staff not sure what happened as smell lasted quite few hrs. Residents quite noisey in their rooms playing tv loud and shouting. Didnt go back down to complain as I already put towels at bottom of doors to keep smell out, and was in bed, couldnt find a desk number to call, such a shame as was great until then.

We enjoyed our one night stay very much, our room was lovely and well worth the price. Unfortunately our stay was let down by poor service at the hotel bar. The lady who served us with our drinks was very rude, to the point where we felt uncomfortable and left without finishing them. She had a very abrupt manner and barely acknowledged me when I asked a question, she carried on talking to her colleague and just shoved a card machine at me sideways without telling me the price or saying thank you. She just had a horrible attitude. I think she must have got on to my shock because then she spent the rest of the time we were there making us very uncomfortable, staring at us and smirking, which is why we left our drinks unfinished. Couldn’t understand her attitude at all and we would have stayed and enjoyed a few more drinks if it weren’t for her, found her to be extremely unprofessional.
