San Biagio Relais

This is a 2-star hotel at best, falsely advertised as 4-star. The room was untouched since the 1980s—old, worn-out, and depressing. At first, I chalked it up to bad luck, but when I realised the air conditioning didn’t work properly and the room was unbearably hot, it became impossible to stay. I left. For €300 a night, this is unacceptable. The mattress was the cheapest possible, the sofa discoloured, and while the room was reasonably clean, the overall standard was far below expectations. I feel sorry for the staff—it’s not their fault—but out of self-respect, I couldn’t stay. This hotel might be acceptable at €80, but not at premium rates. It needs a full renovation and honest advertising.

Front staff were helpful in making all of our dinner reservations, suggesting where to watch football matches and other local areas to visit.

We had a great stay, our family suite is as perfect for what we were looking for.

I am writing to complain formally about aspects of our stay at San Biagio Relais which drastically impacted our trip and do not represent the facilities and services expect of a 4* hotel. The hotel looked significantly different to the photographs, was run down throughout and unkempt, and though we were disappointed by this first impression, we were prepared to make the most of our stay until the following issues occurred: 1. No hot water- throughout our stay we had no hot water. It was tepid occasionally and only ever for a few minutes before going cold again. We informed the reception team who said that an engineer would be attending the following day and that we could not use the facilities for the entire afternoon whilst works were undertaken. We understood this despite the inconvenience as we hoped the issue would be fixed. After this period of no access to our bathroom, we tried the water to find it was still cold. When reporting this to the reception staff in the evening we were met with a ‘there’s not much more we can do’ reply, a lacklustre response to the loss of services at the hotel. 2. Poor customer service- as demonstrated by the above minimising response to issues with the facilities at our room, the customer service was poor throughout our stay. The staff were reluctant to offer advice, tourist information, help with issues at the hotel or general assistance every time we asked politely for something. The hotel advertises that parking is available and it is not. The women at the fro t desk were not helpful, I didn’t stay because I couldn’t park my motorcycle. I will be asking to get my money back.

The receptionist was so kind and friendly. The problem is that the description of the property and the rooms do not match reality. The rooms are tired and not well appointed and we even had a junior suite. No view, very hot and AC not working even after we called the front desk. There was large patches of black mold all along the tub and shower which caused me NOT to want to use it. Definitely not a four star.

Very well placed in the town historic center, quiet street and interesting building. It lacks some attention to detail in room as well as common areas. Wifi and air conditioning didn't work, minibar and telephone were functioning just time to time. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is rich, although the water used for coffee and teas is very heavy and smelly

The air conditioning was terrible in the hotel. they kept saying it was fine. It was over 84 in our room. Could not sleep in August. The staff keep telling us it was fine. The safe in our room did not work. The next day they moved our room, also bad air conditioning and offered us a bottle of wine.. Meanwhile we did not sleep at a at all.

This beautiful hotel locates in the center of the town, you can walk 3 mins to the sea and many restaurants. Some of the amenties are old but understandable. Staff are so nice and warm hearted. Definitely wonderful staying.

Great location in a real hidden gem of a town. Lovely staff and great breakfast. My only complaint here is that the AC didnt work.... oh and there isnt a stand up shower. You have to squat in the tub and use the handheld wand. lolz Reception will give you a sea-wall parking pass if you ask.

We had a mixed experience about San Biagio Relais. After our first night in the hotel, we woke up with bed bugs bites around our body. We requested to change our room for the second night, but they were unable to do it. The hotel changed our sheets and cleaned our clothes. This was a significant inconvenience on our holidays. We spent most of the first morning dealing with the staff and preparing the laundry, and we left the hotel very late on the second day because our clothes were not ready. We also risked taking bed bugs to our home as we had to stay an extra night in the infected room. At the end of the stay, we claimed for a refund, and the hotel only provided a 10% discount. Not the type of service to expect from a four stars hotel. On the other side, the hotel is very well located in the centre of Orbetello, close to the old town with great restaurants. Our room was cute with neo-classical furniture and air conditioning. The quality breakfast service was outstanding, especially the parma ham and the croissants filled with marmalade. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

The Relais was exquisite in many aspects: beautiful structure, adorable highly functional room, stunning courtyard, terrific breakfast buffet and aperitif offering. The location is also superb: close to water and downtown. A truly great stay with a real AC that works exceptionally well

Pro: Nice corner room with high ceiling. Staff were friendly and made very good recommendations for dinner reservations Con: While we normally prefer a firm bed this one was so hard that it was extremely uncomfortable and it lead to a very poor sleep. Weak to no a/c Shower consists of a hand held shower head attached to the bath taps, not the greatest.

Very much not what was pictured . Dirty and not well kept. Spider nests in corners everywhere . Room Ckeaner then rest of hotel. We ended up leaving and just eating the money . Nothing to do in the area and very unappealing .
