Room was bad but the staff were really nice and let us cancel and get a refund

one point needs to be shared. I lost a door card, and asked them to re issue one, which they require 3,000 Jpy. I think this the first time re issueing a card key is charged

Nice location and amenities

Nice staff, great location, close to skyline and multiple subway lines, plenty of local restaurants nearby. The highlight was spa at the end of the day to relax. I read the reviews about rooms being small. We booked a larger room (two double beds and two bunk beds) for 4 of us and there was plenty of room to breath. I would definitely come back again!

Useful and cheap next to ueno keio station. Good stop over from narita. Very lively neighborhood. Basic hotel. Spa was also very basic.

The floor is not clean, small and old.

The property was clean and organized, but I have two major complaints. The first one is that the room floors were accessible from the street level, without a keycard or access code, making it a serious safety risk. The second is that the room was awfully small for four people.

Hotel is fine, nothing fancy. Good spot to stay for a budget just do not bring a lot of luggage as the rooms are very small.

Convenient

Our family of 3 was very happy with our stay at Centurion Hotel & Spa Ueno. The room was small, but totally fine for our 2 night stay. Everything worked well. Hotel staff were all very nice to us. The spa was great, too. Each evening after dinner, we took a nice hot bath, and then plunged into the ice cold pool for just a few minutes.ut felt great!

For the price I paid ( ~$80 USD ) this was a pretty good property. Rooms were small, but not out of line with other similar places. It was clean and had a nice onsen.

Everything was good but there was no coffee or tea bags in the room.

We were very disappointed that the price we got from Expedia was not the final price. We still need to pay for our two kids even though we insert their data during reservation, which we ended up paying almost double in total. And as we were already tired from the trip, especially the kids, we couldn‘t just cancel the room. Lesson learned, never again will book this hotel.

Stayed for 5 nights. Great location in Ueno area. Train and Metro stations are in walking distance. The hotel provides everything you need.

The rooms are a bit small. The overall experience is good. There’s plenty of shops nearby for shopping and food.

Very near ueno station with access to multiple train lines

I stayed here for one night and had a very disappointing experience. First of all, the room condition was completely different from the photos shown online. The room was quite dirty — it looked like the floor hadn’t even been vacuumed. The air conditioner wasn’t working properly, and the room was extremely small for a family with kids and adults. On top of that, we were given a room with bunk beds, which we did not expect or choose. I was so shocked that I went down to the front desk to ask for a room change. However, they told me I had to pay an extra $200. We had already paid nearly $300, so I thought that was unreasonably expensive. I searched online and found a larger room in the same hotel for just about $50 more than the one we were given. I explained this to the staff, but they just said that online prices are “special deals” and that in-person prices are higher. In the end, we had to stay in the small, smelly room with a malfunctioning air conditioner. The service was extremely poor, and we were not offered any help or compensation for the inconvenience. We checked out feeling very frustrated and disappointed. I do not recommend staying here. The photos are misleading, the service is unhelpful, and the overall experience was not worth the price.

Booked this hotel based on good reviews and a walking distance from the Ueno station ( Horikoji exit). It's a hub for food scene. Some food stalls are open 24 hrs. It is also a walking distance to Ueno Ameyoko Shopping street. Accessible to Shibuya / Shinjuku/ Ginza via the Yamamoto line. Hotel is along the alley of the busy food streets. We stayed at their annex building across the main. Staff are friendly and speak English. Facility could use some upgrade though. The first floor of the annex is not welcoming. There's a red wall curtain that makes it look old and a stale smell of cigarettes. Room was small as described on the property details but priced higher since it's in Tokyo. They have luggage storage which is less stressful if you are going to another city and check back in a few days after. Overall, its an okay place to crash at night after walking all over town.

Fantastic hotel, with provided amenities, a firm yet comfortable bed and pillows, and good cooling. For tattooed guests the spa is unavailable, however this is an expected, so plan ahead if you’re tattooed. Reception staff were very friendly and helped navigate the paperwork for luggage forwarding, and were super helpful in recommending places to eat. Is is walking distance from Ueno station, and the street is full of amazing food and drink spots, with 7-11 & FamilyMart around the corner.
