extraordinary japanese inn sprawled across the mountainside - the place goes back 400 years. hard to say which is more impressive - the traditional japanese buildings or the beautiful garden that links them. the views of the city and the surrounding mountains are stunning, and breakfast - all 12 courses - is not to be missed.

Hotel is beautiful, staffs are very friendly, all facilities are clean and new. I have been to hundreds hotels and this is by far one of the best! Strongly recommended!

Overall the best place we stayed at in our trip to Japan. Everything about the place was superlative, all the way to the staff driving us to a restaurant in town as we had not made a dinner reservation at the Ryokan and they could not accommodate us. A top notch experience.

The room is big and comfortable. The meal is good. They provide free wine drink for us which surprise us.

The hotel and staff themselves are amazing. The only problem was booking on Hotels.com. for some reason we were directed to the Chinese site and not the Japanese and the shock of conversion from Chinese yen to japanese yen left a sour taste in the mouth. Not at anytime did the hotels.com website warn us that they were displaying Chinese yen currency. Only once we received the receipt did we realise the huge cost difference.

The shuttle service was super convenient- they came to pick us up after we called upon arrival at the train station. We had the Japanese Room for 4 with an open air bath. The room was comfortable and the shower room was nice. The outdoor bath was amazing in size and the balcony we had overlooked the hills. But the bath itself was very private. We enjoyed the town and walking up Konpira-San.

Understated yet luxury One of the best in the area

Just had one night stay. The staff are super- friendly and efficient and nothing is too much trouble for them. Room spotlessly clean and the bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Loved the view from the room.Beautiful. Perfect location. Five minutes walk to touristic spots. The breakfast was awesome. Thank you Kotohira Kadan for a perfect stay in Shikoku - congratulations, your hotel is fabulous. No complaints at all.

We chose Japanese-Style room with open onsen, the onsen is great but the room is small, we slept at the living room because there is no sleeping area or bedroom, the room is like an open studio. Our package included dinner and breakfast, the food is great. The price is a bite expensive but we have a nice memory and experience at the hotel.

Relaxing, good service and nice food.

Our stay at Kotahira Kadan was overall most enjoyable. Only negatives were that everything Kotahira closes at 5pm and with no cooking facilities in our room we had to eat from a small selection of food items at the local 7 Eleven (only store that never closes) each night. Also staff were very nice and accommodating, but spoke limited english, I gave up trying to request a booking for a shiatsu massage after a few attempts. Other than those minor things, would definitely recommend staying for a relaxing break.

The price is very high comparing with the other hotel due to many facilities. You should have time to stay in the hotel. Public bath with scenery view. Staffs are very professional. Free pick up and send to train station but did not write in the hotel.com info.

We were well receive at reception. But when we check out, it seem that the staff could not careless about us. Very cold. That leave us with not so goo impression of the place. The staff that serce us dinner was great, he tries to explain to us about the dinner in very friendly manor, however breakfast we had different staff and it was justb work for him.
