What Guests Say About Their Stay

No need to worry if you can't speak Japanese, because most of the staff are foreigners, so they are able to speak in English. You can even cook your meal in this hotel since they have a public kitchen in the basement, and you can use it freely. You can wash your clothes also in the basement with their coin washing machine. Definitely will stay in Tune Stay Kyoto if we visit Kyoto in the future.

The hotel staff is very friendly, professional and very helpful. The hotel facilities are very complete, and the hotel atmosphere is very homey, plus the hotel is close to the convenience store and there are many dining options in the area. Adding to the memorable experience during a 3 day 2 night stay at Tune Stay Kyoto. Hopefully I can come back here again when on vacation to Kyoto.

Tune Stay Kyoto offers clean, compact rooms with a modern, minimalist design—perfect for solo travelers or couples who plan to be out exploring all day. The beds are comfortable, the self-check-in is smooth, and the shared kitchen/lounge area is a nice bonus. It’s not in the super touristy center, but it’s a short walk to subway stations and local restaurants. The walls are a bit thin, and don’t expect luxury amenities, but for the price and cleanliness, it’s a solid value in expensive Kyoto. Recommended for frugal travelers who value simplicity and good transit access.

Very convenient location near Kyoto Station. I stayed in a room for 1-2 people with a double bed, my friend was in the neighboring room. Room is small but efficiently set up, would be VERY cozy for a couple (one person would sleep against the wall and have to climb over partner to get out). Small refrigerator, very comfy bed, extra pillows to choose located near elevators, great shower (you can also reserve for a private bath in a room in the basement), coin operated laundry (and change machine) in basement. Staff will store luggage for you if you need before, during, and after your stay (we had luggage sent here from Tokyo while we went to Kanazawa for two days). Nice bar on first floor that specializes in gin - you can get a flight of three gins with a choice of one tonic and three garnishes for 2000 yen (as of May 2026). Super great deal, probably 15-18 choices of gin? We didn't use it, but there's also a full kitchen in the basement, very nicely set up. Also, they show short films every evening! Highly recommend.

Quaint and charming. Clean and comfortable. The heat in the hallway can be a bit off-putting. The rooms were decent size for the price. Staff members are friendly, helpful and speaks good English. Conveniently located not far from Kyoto Station, konbinis, restaurants and a gorgeous temple. Had a good stay.

Out of the three hotels we stayed in Japan, Tune stay was our favourite as it was very clean. The rooms are small but obviously that reflects the price that you pay. The rooms are very clean, and the hotel offers cleaning if you stay more than 3 days.

Honestly would never stay again. We were told we had the option of either getting our trash taken out from our hotel room or offered a drink in exchange for them not having to take the trash out. On top of that when I went to go wash some clothes, the washing machines were in very poor conditions and the washing machine area smelled like mildew. Instead of them fixing the issue there was just a layer of towels spread out across the washing machines?? Not sure what that was about, but this was the worst out of the 3 hotels we stayed at and would strongly urge anyone to please book elsewhere for a better experience in Kyoto.

Area close to the train station in walking distance. They can send your luggage to the next hotel in Japan at the reception. It’s clean. Contras: cannot open the window wide, they offered me a choice to get a room cleaned ONCE in four days or to get two canned drinks. I used the laundry Maschines in the basement and had to use the dryer multiple times (you need coins) and it’s performance was unsatisfactory.
