We had an incredible time at Hotelito Azul. Everything was perfect, from the hotel to the staff. We were welcomed with a delicious green smoothie from Olivia’s (we kept coming back for more!). The ambiance is perfect for a relaxing, soul soothing vacation. Our oceanfront room had beautiful sunrise views we will always remember. The Agave restaurant, beachfront, served the best rib eye tacos! And a special thanks to the staff for being so attentive, helpful, and making us feel right at home.

Fyi…Think beach attire as the property’s exterior is all sand. Quality leather footwear may get ruined but overall the property is great.

Lovely staff and an authentic atmosphere, but the hotel needs restoration & more staff. It’s overpriced for the current state. To find a good place to eat or entertain be ready to walk 1.5–2 km along a dusty, overcrowded, and unpleasant road. At half the price, it might be acceptable — but not as it is now.

Tulum is beautiful and this property was no exception. Given the many wonderful options thus top tier customer service is a must as an opposed to a sometimes to deserve a high rating. I was in an ocean front suite. This came at a premium it was wonderful…except…the one side was where the restaurant is. Literally one of your windows looks directly in there. It was thus not quiet. The onsite restaurant staff were wonderful. The hotel staff was not. I got there slightly earlier than check in and they first said my room was not ready and when the bathroom they offered me to get ready was apparently not available for an hour for cleaning, miraculously my room was ready. Note that the hotel likely has room for over 50 and there were about 5 guests so why they couldn’t have a room ready was already odd. I asked for help getting a taxi and was quoted a ridiculous price and they weren’t willing to try to assist in getting a better price but instead told me I could try myself by walking the road. I was a female travelling alone. I was easily able to get a better deal which begs the question why weren’t they. Check out was equally frustrating by being advised late in the evening before my early flight when one of the restaurants was closed already I had to pay for each of the restaurants IN THE HOTEL separately and it may take awhile. Made my last moments rushed and stressful. This property wasn’t for me but I think a younger crowd would enjoy it as it’s cool with its rooftop pool.

From the moment we arrived at Hotelito Azul, it was clear this place was something special. Nestled along the pristine beaches. The architecture is modern yet respects the local culture, with open-air spaces, thatched roofs, and wooden accents that create an organic and tranquil vibe. The staff is absolutely incredible—genuinely warm, attentive, and eager to ensure that your stay is nothing short of perfect. Check-in was smooth, and we were greeted with refreshing drinks and a welcome smile. Every request was met with enthusiasm, whether it was for a recommendation or extra towels for the beach Hugo was very professional and sweet. Our room was a sanctuary—spacious, impeccably clean by Griselda she is literally the best, she filled with all the comforts you’d expect from a five-star resort. The views of the turquoise ocean from our private terrace were breathtaking. The room featured a comfortable king-sized bed, luxurious linens, and an outdoor shower that added an exotic touch. The resort’s amenities are top-notch. We loved lounging by the infinity pool, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Caribbean. The on-site restaurant serves some of the best food we’ve had in Tulum. Fresh, flavorful, and with an emphasis on local ingredients, every meal felt like a culinary adventure. What really sets this hotel apart, though, is its connection to nature. The beach is serene and uncrowded, perfect for long walks or watching the sunrise.

Please don’t ignore the other bad reviews. Nothing great about this place. Bad customer service , nothing is maintained , no staff to even give towels at the pool or anywhere. No one at the beach to watch lifeguard or clean the unlimited amounts of seaweed. Beach is unfortunately not usable. No security. Roof top pools are old and rusty, bars and bathrooms not cleaned and they don’t have any staff around to help with anything . Have to climb up 4 floors of stairs to get there with no help, We stayed in the “ grand villa “which was advertised as come with private pool and jacuzzi and hot tub but they were non existent. Only a jacuzzi in the balcony facing the busy street so all you could hear was the street horns and cars going by. It was not a villa. It was a room connected to other rooms and not a villa as advertised. Seperate living room is squeezed with the kids twin beds upstairs where there is no fan or a/c or blinds . A/c don’t work, jacuzzis in the balcony had no hot water . No secuirty outside the hotel. The “security” booth was always empty, the hotel is on a very busy street so felt very insecure as rooms could also be easily opened.

This a very unique property. It started out with wrong room but was fixed. I had paid for an ocean view. Rooms were very nice, both rooms. Shampoo/conditioner and body wash in bathrooms. No TVs. I went for major R and R and thats what i got. Loved Olivias and Agave restaurants. There is a nice restaurant across the street also. It feels like your staying in the jungle. I would stay again. I really loved coffee delivery to room every morning, i wish they offered Tea with that delivery. I did not try pool as water was briskly cold. Ocean was fantastic.

We stayed at Hotel Azul because in our previous trip (3 years ago) to Tulum we were staying at a different property but in our wondering around we stumbled into Azul I believe because they coffee or a bakery. They were very inviting and we ended up having drinks at the pool with great service. The property is still nice unfortunately service is very lacking. There are two restaurants on prop and both are owned by someone other than the hotel. This causes some oddities and complete lack of service. We tried the in room breakfast twice both times it was terrible but what was worse as this restaurant is not part of the hotel really the cleaning staff would not remove the old food or plates. Even if you put them outside your door they would be there until a animal took the food then the dishes would just sit. The service at the beach is done by the other restaurant and as long as someone is there its pretty good but quite often you have to go looking for someone. Car or scooter parking is about 2 US blocks away and do to the location to get to most of the services in the area you will need one. It was a lot of little things like chairs with the bottoms broken out of them by the pool or no one lighting the candle votives that guide you up the steps to your room most nights. Then the service issues that made this vacation less than what we hoped for as the staff 3 years ago was on point. I hope they figure it out as its a cool hotel overall.

Need to work on getting a bigger sign or visible that shows the hotel name. I passed it twice because theirs a big palm tree covering the hotel name. And if you have a rental. You have to park 2 buildings down from the hotel. Also, they keep the gate locked so not very convenient in getting in and out. Other than that this place has good food, and the room was nice with good service. Also theirs a restaurant across the street for dinner options.

Mariano was the most wonderful host to us. Griselda did a great job taking care of our room & she was lovely to us. The grounds are very well maintained & so inviting. I stayed at Hotelito Azul with my wife and 2-year-old son in Jan 2025. Our stay was wonderful. Once you get in you feel you’re really in a tropical dream world. The vibe is very chill and relaxing from the moment you’re in the reception area. The grounds are gorgeous and you always feel you’re in a jungle wherever you’re going (from the reception area to the room, pool, beach, etc). The room decoration is in a sophisticated rustic style without compromising comfort. The 2 pools and the 2 jacuzzis are located on the rooftop, which offer a fantastic 360 view of the ocean at the front and the jungle in the back. The staff is friendly and very professional offering an efficient service. GRISELDA, the lady who would clean our room was very friendly and make a different surprise to our son everyday (she would fold the towels in different shapes such as a dog or a dino, which our son loved). We had only an issue that was quickly resolved: there was a bit loud music on the rooftop and the baby couldn’t fall asleep, but once I asked the staff they turned down the volume. After that, I could only hear the sea waves and the wind on the palm trees. The hotel grounds leads directly on to the beach which is gorgeous with white sand and warm blue water. They have two restaurants (Olivia and Agave) with great food. One should only be aware of the prices that are on par with what you pay in an expensive city like NYC. Also, breakfast is not included.
