I didn’t feel like a hotel guest, I felt that the hotel staff treated me as if I was a guest at their own house not a hotel client, I traveled to 20+ countries but I had the best breakfast ever in this hotel, I also had the warmest friendly welcome and assistance during my stay. I also regret booking two nights only, next time I shall stay for a week!

Very unique property next to very beautiful streets great for picture taking. Short walk to plaza or taxi center. Food is best in plaza square. Some things were disappointing. I scheduled a taxi pick up with Mohammed from the airport in Tanger days before. He confirmed and told me the name of the driver. I provided flight information. Tanger is two hours away and when we arrived there was no transportation as promised. I called Mohammed ahout 10 times in whatsapp and he never picked up. After waiting one hour I called the hotel and asked what happened. They figured something out and sent a car but waited a total time of 1.5 hours. This was unacceptable and when we arrived we were not offered tea or water as a greeting especially after what they had done. Later we asked Mohammad for a restaurant recommendation that was good and not touristy and he recommended a very touristy place where they got commission. We were very dissatisfied with the food and recommendation. Don't ask for recommendations, just eat in the square it is best.

I had a nice stay. They upgraded my room. I had a nice fire lit that warmed the space nicely. This is an old Berber property and rustic. It's lovely.

This is a lovely place in a good location inside the medina. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was great! The one downside was that the bathroom was tiny. We enjoyed our stay.

Great place! Many tourists (like me) take photos right outside the Riad...really pretty:) Breakfast is great and all the staff were truly helpful. Youssef stood out because he’s really nice and took the time to talk to me and the other guests. The terrace in my room (#5) is one of my favorite hang out spots. What a view! Highly recommended.

Chefchaoen was definitely our favorite place on our journey. Gharnata was gorgeous and the mountain views and rooftop terrace were impeccable. We loved it and would definitely stay here again if we ever go back:)

Location is nice. Room was small. Wifi was slow. On the second day, we had to ask twice for the towels to be changed after we found out there was no cleaning service during the day. Tried to overcharge us for additional beds and we had to present booking confirmation to argue. There is also a "tax" for paying by credit cards. After we decided to pay by dh, the rate is 1 euro=11 dh. (Riads we stayed in Fes used 1:10.7)

You will have to walk to the Riad as vehicles are not allowed inside the old walled city - alleys are too narrow anyway. Be prepared to walk many stairs. Many locals there ready to carry your bags for fee. Short walks from Riad to every attraction make it ideal place to go.

Riad Gharnata is very nice. We booked a large looking room and ended up being placed in a very small room, which waa disappointing. However, other rooms seemed very large and the overall place is very clean, pretty and excellently located. Would highly recommend!

If any of you have read reviews about this Riad and how they scammed people, you should believe because it happened to us. We wanted to try because of the location. However, everything else was unprofessional from the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out. We booked a double room, upon arrivals, because of reading too many reviews, we asked for the confirmation to make sure we get/pay what we booked, the host kept saying " dont worry, relax first" and pushed us into a suite. We thought he was being nice and gave us a free upgrade. One hour went by, when we got settled, the host came and talked to us about the extra $ for breakfast which was supposed to be included. At this time, we realized something was wrong and really pushed the host to disclose the price of this room and confirm our booking. He immediately moved us to a different room, which is fine but what if we didnt ask and had to pay 3 times more than we wanted the next morning. I gave them a frown face for checking in experience and the host confronted me when checking out and sent me an email to ask "WHY??" but at this time, we were over it and just wanted out. The room was dirty, very very loud because not isolate well. We did not have a good sleep and good time at all.

Getting to the hotel was very easy but required some walking on steep cobbled steps - had to leave the car behind in the main square! This was no trouble as we knew chefchaouen to have many steps and alleyways. The reception we received was nice and we were able to see our room before it was ready (we arrived earlier than the stated check in time). The Riad itself is beautiful and amazingly furnished and clean. Our room had all amenities including a small fridge and television and even a small sink on the ground floor - very moroccan and very authentic furnishings. The only downside was the size of the room - even though there were two single beds and one double bed to accommodate 4 people there was not much room for walking around and everything was rather squashed however this is to be expected from all Riads and should not put anyone off from staying at this beautiful Riad. All in all a very cute and beautifully authentic room. Breakfast was also superb and included all the trimmings - service was also impeccable. If you are looking for an authentic moroccan experience with great service then this is the Riad to stay in Chefchaouen!

Beautiful hotel but the room we booked to sleep four people was cramped. Better suited for two people or two adults with small children as the additional beds were narrow, short and extremely hard. In hindsight we should have booked two rooms. The Manager was very helpful in arranging a taxi to the waterfall and a transfer to Tangier at a reasonable price. Breakfast was disappointing, eggs, crepes and orange juice were good but let down by stale bread and a tiny amount of coffee. Probably a staffing issue as we asked for more coffee on two mornings and it never arrived. On our third and last morning we asked for an 8am breakfast, woke the staff member at 7.50am but at 8.15 am when we went looking for the breakfast, the staff member was still in bed. This meant that our driver to Tangier, organised by the hotel, had to wait for us. Just a couple of issues that could easily be sorted by hotel but overall a lovely stay.
