Missed our cruise out so had to find somewhere cheap and quick Double bunk room was perfect... Boy on reception very understanding and got us checked in very quickly... €10 cash deposit for room key - which we didn't have unless we had to walk back to ATM Think he felt sorry for us and let us just give €5 which we had in our pocket Returned on checking out... Grand location coffee shop just below and whiskey bar right across the road

The room have no lockers. Also no suitable window to be open, being really stinky. The light in the toilet were automatic, so, it would take ages to turn off and we could not leave the door open for some fresh air, because of the lights and the fan. the fans on the toilets would take at least 30 mins to turn off. there is NO RECEPTION on site

Walkable distance from the Rijksmuseum, got most of the way from Amsterdam Centraal by tram. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only stayed one night on Thursday in late July. No airconditioning but it was fine. Sheets were provided which was good. Shower and facilities worked fine although the dehumidifier was loud for a few minutes after anyone had switched the light on, so probably best to bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise when you sleep. Some noise from the street but not overwhelming (again, Thursday in late July, and above a bar, so might be louder if you're visiting on a weekend given that it's above a street full of bars). Was travelling solo (am not a guy) but never felt unsafe. Cost 3 euros to leave my suitcase in the luggage area behind the reception for the day which I didn't know about before I got there. Stairs were incredibly steep and narrow, be careful if you have problems with your knees. Luckily the guy in reception helped me bring my suitcase down when I was leaving.

If you want surly staff and unclean rooms in an iffy location, this is your place. Bring your own toilet paper because staff told me they don’t provide it because “this isn’t a hotel”

Cramped, expensive and potential fire hazard. Although homes in Amsterdam seem attractively old in practice the steep, spiral staircases are difficult to navigate especially because they are so badly lit. When I arrived a strong person used to the narrow steps help me carry my bags which were stored in receiption.

The staff was very nice, and it is in a great location. It is a very short walk from the major museums. They did not provide a locker, though, and they offered to hold on to my valuable things themselves, but I didn't feel comfortable with that. When I booked this place I was attracted to the free breakfast, but it was only bread and jam, peanut butter, and chocolate spread. That's it! No option to toast it, at least none that I saw. There was coffee, too, which I enjoyed. The breakfast room was actually in a different hostel nearby. Wifi was provided in both places, and in a throwback fashion, there was a public computer. I was the only one who used it! This hostel experience really depends on what you want and how well you sleep. I stayed in an eight person room, and people were coming in and out all night. I had to sleep on top of my belongings because there was no where to put anything. I was surprised to find the lights out and people asleep at 10pm! But, like I said, activity went on all night. So I had two difficult nights of sleep. Maybe the going rate in Amsterdam is high regardless, but this place was very pricey for what it offered and didn't offer.

the two male receptionists are highly unfriendly, they treat customers anyhow as if they are doing clients some favour, additionally there is no kitchen, no storage cabinet, no breakfast and they set their rules which differ from the rules published online, if I'm offered a free bed in this hotel will not accept. potential clients be guided.

The stairs is ridiculous no lift so pack light. Also they allowed a drunk stranger into an all ladies dorm at 3 a.m. my roommate started to have intercourse (sex) right in front of me. Very uncomfortable. Also no lockers at all and the free breakfast absolutely sucked. The location however was great. I am including a picture of the guy who entered my room

The highlight of the hotel is definitely the surrounding areas as it is located closeby to the popular attraction such as the RijkMuseum and Van Gogh art museum. On my trip it allowed me to get early access and bypass the overcrowding and long lineups. The condition and comfort of the hotel was really good considering the price of the accomdations. Loved how helpful the staff were at providing insight into activites and the local area. Getting checked in was straightforward and convenient. I would highly recommend for budget travelers.

The building itself is a little rundown and the rooms could definitely use some updates and remodeling but aside from that, sheets, comforter, and bath were pretty clean. Also, staff was always available, super friendly, and helpful. Note that you can regulate the thermostat from your own room, which is a plus. Note that there are no lockers or safe boxes but you can leave valuables with the front desk. Overall, it was a pleasant and affordable stay!

The hostel is quite old and the staff is pretty much just there to check you in but it happens to be on top of a nice coffee shop and next to a smart shop as well. It is about a 20 to 30 minute walk to Central Station and you are surrounded by pubs and restaurants and nearby a grocery store and shops and clothing stores as well. The dorm room had a very small bathroom in it and you have to walk around the corner to another hotel to get the free breakfast which is just coffee and tea and toast with peanut butter and jelly. It looks as if there is an outside area behind the reception and they have a fridge that sells a few items and a seating area next to the reception but other than that there is no lounge area or smoking area or any other area like any of the other hostels in Amsterdam.
