Hilton Porto Gaia

The Hilton Porto Gaia is an excellent hotel located in an area within easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops. The area is beautiful and located across the Douro from the Ribeira District of Porto. Walking over the bridge to Porto only takes a few minutes from the hotel. There are a myriad of local activities surrounding the hotel especially if you like wine as there are many Port wine houses that have tours and tastings. The cable cars take you to the top a park high above with great vistas and where you can walk the upper level of the bridge. As to the Hilton Porto Gaia it is a modern hotel that is private and quiet and has nice sized rooms with modern decor. The bathrooms are impressive especially the shower. The hotel also has dining and a bar on top floor Cusco with a great view of Porto across the river and excellent coctails with lots of choices. The staff are wondeful and speak perfect English for anyone that doesn’t speak Portuguese. Overall this is one of if not the best hotel I’ve stayed in during all my travels and we will be staying here again in the future when we come back.

Very nice hotel - located close to the water and hidden amongst the Port Houses in Gaia. Beautiful hotel. Rooms were large and comfortable. We would stay here again for sure.

Loved everything about the Hilton Porto Gaia! The spa is amazing, breakfast was excellent, staff and customer service 5 stars! Rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable. Will definitely be back!

Dark hotel, lighting weird. Huge room for family. messed up our room but sent a bottle of wine for the mistake. Long day of travel didn’t want to find food elsewhere Restaurant staff were amazing. Hotel bar good view but food wasn’t family friendly.

Very nice facility and conveniently walkable to the waterfront in Gaia. The vibe felt pretty stuffy. We splurged on this hotel and our family agreed afterward that we would have rather stayed at a four-star hotel where they provide some nice little "extras" that pleasantly surprise guests, instead of a five-star where it seems they assume you are wealthy and are ok paying extra for amenities. We were surprised that it was 10 euro per adult per day to use the pool. We did not partake.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well-appointed, the staff is nice/friendly, and the location is ideal for sight-seeing. Would recommend!

Excellent place

Absolutely loved this hotel. Clean, beautiful, and great service. The breakfast buffet is amazing. Great location, close to the water, bus line, and bridge to go to the main city of Porto. I would stay here again for sure.

Very comfortable nice hotel

Our experience at Porto Gaia was overall good. We had a couple of issues with our balcony room which we booked especially and were looking forward to using! We were initially put in a room that was lovely but only had space on the balcony to stand up with no chairs. The front desk staff were great in allocating us another room down the corridor and helped us move our things but the room still only had one chair and no cushions as seen on others so we didn’t get to enjoy it as we hoped. The walls are too high so there’s no view when you’re sat down and the road out the front of the hotel is so busy that that’s the only noise you could hear if you were sat out there. I also really struggled with the noise trying to sleep. On the Friday night, the traffic was surprisingly extremely loud until 3am, starting again at 6am on Saturday morning. I asked if a fan could be provided to block out the noise which might of helped. I managed the rest of the weekend taking hayfever tablets to help me sleep so not the most relaxing! The spa was amazing although you do have to book a time slot in advance and this process could be made easier and clearer. We booked all days of our stay and especially on weekdays, they were really accommodating of changes to time. Overall I’d be hesitant to book again because of the noise which is unfortunate but we did have a lovely time in Porto and the location and convenience of the hotel was great for what we needed.

A really lovely hotel, we had a standard room and it was excellent. Spacious, clean, comfortable and modern. Very quiet. Breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice. Spa was lovely. Really pleased with our stay here.

Toilet was separate from both shower and sink. The door to the toilet was opaque glass and was not designed to close (no knob or lock); akin to a glass shower door. Oddly bathrooms were modernly done.
