Royal Oak Guest House

Friendly guest house, with thoughtful touches making it a comfortable and unique place to stay. Breakfast is delicious and cooked exactly to order. Location is ideal, a short walk into the centre of Kirkwall, with amazing views out over the hills. Highly recommended!

This was a beautiful place to stay. Good parking. People were very friendly. Comfy beds. Lovely fresh towels. Tea/coffee available. Breakfast was really good. Good choices and a great start to the day. Will definitely stay there again if in Kirkwall.

Excellent place to stay, the rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast is great as many options. The host are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it and will book this place next time I’m in Orkney.

Great place. It is walking distance to shops and the harbour. Eric cooked super breakfasts that were tasty and filling. The hosts are eager to accommodate guests. The guest rooms are quiet with good amenities. I highly recommend it

We stayed a few nights as we looked around the area. Our room was spacious and had all we needed. Eric was very friendly and provided great breakfasts with flexibility. It was easy to talk to others when we wanted, too.

Absolutely lovely b&b. Really nice owners, great, fresh breakfast, super location. Room was really nice and comfortable. My only complaint would be that it could do with blackout curtains

Run by LOVELY people. Very clean. Perfect lounge area where you can use a wee fridge and heat up food in the microwave with plates, utensils, etc. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Easy parking. My only complaint is it is a little farther from the main area with all the shops. However there is a LIDL close by and we had fish and chips close by filled with locals, that was delicious. Staying right down by the shops was a lot more money, so the walk was worth it.

Close to the pedestrian mall. About 20 minutes walk into town. Great breakfast. Clean and quiet. Nice owners who are read to give recommendations.

Lovely 2nights in this guest house Host Eric was very friendly and courteous and great breakfast cook. Got to meet mum as Alice was busy with the couple’s new arrival 💞. Would highly. Kitchen area on the common room if wish to prepare quick snack this is a great idea ✅

Everything is good. Warm welcome from Eric, nice breakfast with various choices, even homemade jam. The room is so clean and spotless. Excellent arrangement from the host even with our short notice of breakfast time due to the local tour. So quiet neighbourhood and we had nice sleep. Walk to city centre takes about 30 minutes.

Friendly welcome, newly refurbished room, tasty breakfast, great advice for evening meal options. If we ever get back up here, we will definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable bed ( I'm not used to sleeping in a single but this one was very comfortable.) Air conditioning was handy as it was quiet close overnight a couple of times. Breakfast is a treat
