Mondrian Seoul Itaewon

Booked this for two days whilst visiting my brother, sis-in-law and new nephew, to give them some relaxation and something a little special. It ticked all the boxes, lovely room, lovely facilities, we used the indoor pool as it was out of season for the outdoor one. Nearby a great place to go for a drink or two in Itaewon.

Hotel was stunning and had everything you could need right there. Unfortunately a new shopping mall is being built next door so it can be quite noisy in the mornings

Overall, the stay was pleasant—the staff was helpful, and the hotel facilities was impressive. However, there were a few disappointments. Upon check-in, the shower products were completely empty, which was frustrating after nearly 20 hours of travel. The following day, used glasses and mugs were not replaced, and the tissue box was left empty. These small oversights affected the overall experience.

The hotel is located is an excellent are of Seoul. The staff is very friendly and the amenities are very nice.

Staff is very accommodating on the things we need

A couple of the major museums and parks are walkable from the hotel. The hotel staff were incredible helpful for everything and always available. I was able to leave my medication that required refrigeration in the room fridge filled with beer. I was not charged for using to store my medication in this fridge. They have restaurants within the hotel and just outside. There is a Seven11 store open 24 hours across the street and a Starbucks. The fitness room was fantastic. A large selection of modern equipment and a yoga/stretch room too. I checked out very early in the morning for a race. The hotel allowed me to use their fitness center shower after the race before I left for the airport.

The hotel itself is amazing, and in a great location close to many restaurants and coffee shops ((including a Starbucks that opens at 7am (rare!)). The hotel could use a suitable desk and chair for those that intend to work during their stay, but otherwise the place is a great hotel.

Elevator wait time is unbearable - sometimes 3-5 minutes wait

A modern, clean and attractive hotel with great facilities on site such as pool and large gym, book store, bakery, convenience store, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and with Starbucks and 7-11 across the street. Generally quiet, with the hotel being a good 10 minute walk from the main part of Itaewon. Not particularly close to anywhere else, we mainly relied on Uber to get to Myeongdong, Seoungsu, Insadong etc, all of which were roughly 15 minutes away in the car. Rooms are too warm in winter, had to keep the window open all night. Rooms are small. We are a family of four with a 10 and 6 year old, and we contacted the hotel in advance to check if the room would be sufficient for us, and were told they could not provide an additional bed, but assured us the bed in the room would be enough for our family. It really wasn’t. It was difficult, very difficult, only the children slept well, with the adults doing their best to work around it.

So I will say the service was great, they were super duper, nice. But my room was extremely hot and I could not the temperature of the room to come down. When I arrived at check in, I was starving. Every restaurant inside of the hotel closes from 2pm-5pm. So I had to walk to find food. The location is a short walk from everything that's happening, so that was a positive. And it would have been nice to know that the spa is completely separate from the hotel. You cannot make or cancel reservations through the hotel. The sauna facilities we're overrated. Overall, I probably would not stay at this location again. Of note because they are tagged luxury hotel. They expect you to pay 19,000 won for a beer, that can be found at the CU. The breakfast buffet in the morning was actually pretty good. The rooftop lounge and all the other lounges in the hotel, are just ok. If you just want to blow some money please stay here.

I eat and do mini getaways frequently, have rooms for my staff and visitors, do I get any perks NO. Not an upgrade even weekdays fully empty rooms. Oh well I’ll continue you to stay and eat wonderful Mediterranean cuisine of Cleo’s

Open bathroom, and shower drain was very slow

One of the best Middle Eastern restaurant in Seoul (maybe the best) is in the lobby. If you have to weather a snow storm, you have all the facilities you need in the building. Good location as well.

I stayed at the Mondrian because I was familiar with the hotel and the area. The buffet breakfast was great with a mix of eastern and western foods. In contrast, the wine and cocktails were quite expensive so I didn’t drink at the hotel. Overall, it was a good experience

After checking in and trying to relax, I experienced the absurd situation of someone unlocking the door and entering the room. Despite this, Mondrian Hotel Korea’s response was to offer simple items like wine or cookies to appease the frustration. I strongly recommend securing the safety lock when staying at this hotel.
