OPPA Hostel Sinchon-Hongdae

I had a great stay, the host was very welcoming and the location was great! Would definitely recommend!

our stay was good Paul was a great host and very helpful the hostel is in a good location for the subway and places to go eat its a quiet area around the hostel but a 5 min walk from a busy area with lots to do and eat . only downside from the stay was the mattress was a bit too hard so was a bit hard to sleep on for us.

Richard was super helpful and super friendly, room is small but that’s to be expected. Only complaint is the toilet location. You have to sit at an angle because of how close it is to the wall. But other than that, this place is by far the best travel hostel I’ve been to.

Richard was a very approachable and sincere host. Always checks up on you and makes sure your stay is comfortable and convenient.

Nice owner, very convinient

It was our first big trip overseas and Richard made our accommodations easy and painless! We stayed just over two weeks, and though the room was small it was great for our budget. Richard treated us like family, always made sure we had eaten good food, and gave us lots of recommendations. We could always rely on him to help us in a pinch, and he was ready to offer accommodations for items that didn’t come with the room (such as ordering us large towels). The location was excellent; very quiet and close to tons of shops, restaurants, bus routes and the subway. Thank you so much for your kindness and friendship, we’ll be sure to stay again next time!

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, I recommend OPPA Hostel. Richard is a wonderful host and he goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable as much as possible. The room was clean and I had enough space to reorganize my luggage before I checked out. The washroom is a shower, toilet and sink combined, not ideal but you get used to it. The location is convenient and pretty quiet at night (4 min walk to Sinchon station). Would definitely return when I come back to Seoul.

Very convenient location to Hongdae and subway line 2/4/5, lots of restaurants on the street below, but be aware there are slopes and the hostel has stairs. Could be hard for large luggage. The owner Richard is really friendly and responsible. Basic communication in English/Chinese are both fine. Room itself is small but clean. Bathroom is separated from where you sleep but shower head is just above the toilet. Also only saw some small towels. Overall had a nice stay there.

Easy to navigate and close to the train station - just a 5 minute walk. Hostel owner is helpful with directions and information regarding the area.

The property is clean and just a five minute walk to Sinchon Station. The owner is very friendly and checked in on my friend and I every day to make sure we could find everything we needed.

Friendly Well located Clean and comfy

It's not a luxury hotel, it's a hostel. Our stay was like crashing at a welcoming friend's house. The location is convenient to the subway, and also has a lot of shopping and places to eat in the area. Very walkable. Room was a good size (we had a bunk bed and a large bed), bed was comfy (we slept on the large bed, spread our luggage contents out on the bunk beds), and the blankets were great; my teen wanted to buy a set. It might be snug if 4 people were staying and had a lot of luggage. The bathroom was also a generous size and fully stocked. It's an Asian style bathroom, a wetroom, there is no shower curtain or shower stall so things get wet. Good water pressure and large bathtub. Room had a small bar fridge, and there is a larger fridge in the common area that could be used as well, as well as dishes and cutlery - like staying at a friend's house. He checked in on us via text when we were out and about to make sure we were ok, offered suggestions and assistance to make our visit easy. And he speaks English. Yes, when traveling to foreign countries, we should make an effort to learn the language, but sometimes we don't have time, sometimes we try and still suck at it, so having a host who speaks English was reassuring and made the trip less intimidating and more relaxing when we were "home." Save the stressful attempts to communicate in Korean and bad sign language for when you're navigating the subway and your t-card won't work. 他也会说中文。
