Parador de Santo Domingo Bernardo de Fresneda

Our moment of luxury on the Camino. Bed very comfortable Breakfast very good though a little pricey. Staff very helpful as there has been a national power cut.

I liked this hotel a lot. Feels like staying in a palace indeed. Very high end hotel at a bargain cost.

It’s amazing and beautiful. The staff was so kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again.

Staff service was excellent

Everything about this hotel was fantastic - exceptional service from all staff (especially the front desk), great location and very clean hotel. Surrounded by significant historical buildings. An enriching experience.

Love every moment of this hotel stay. Inside is like part church part historical landmark, with lots of museum level art work, and one of the comfortable bed and room I've stayed anywhere. Entrance to hotel isn't distinct, but once inside, place is wildly fascinating and staff very friendly. Parking off street is abundant and free, easy walking distance to town center, musical venues, laundromat, and convenient stores. Since town is small, not ideal for long stay, but there numerous cute small villages to explore, including Haro, which is capital to Rioja and home to many restaurants featured in Michelin guide, like Nublo, just 19 minutes away. Spa services available at their affiliated location just 5 mins away. I can't wait to stay here again.

Lovely Parador in 16th Century convent. Room was excellent. No restaurant on site but only a short walk in to town, which has some good bars and restaurants.On site parking was limited, but plenty of parking in nearby streets which felt safe. Would stay again

Amazing and beautiful building . Lovely rooms and the biggest towels I’ve seen in a hotel . Only thing I think that would add to the experience is maybe a few more smiles at the front desk .

Lovely town in easy walkimg distance, which maybe why there is no bar or restaurant. Parking was a limited but there was spaces at either side of the proprty. Building and rooms were great.

Great hotel. Paradors always are. Amazing rehab of old church and convent into the present hotel. Staff was nice and it was historic yet clean and up to date. My one wish is that it had A/C. But we enjoyed our stay.

Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful building, stately rooms, where you seem to go back in time. Enjoyed the view over the courtyard. We went to the other parador for supper, would have preferred to have the option to stay at our own parador, but booked knowing that this wasn’t an option - we felt the atmosphere was worth it, and were not wrong. Good breakfast, although the coffee was disappointing. Friendly, courteous staff, an absolute pleasure to stay here.

Such a gorgeous old building like being in medieval Spain

Beautiful old style yet modern rooms. Lots of space and very comfotable beds. Very efficient & helpful check in staff. Easy walk to testaurants. Lift wss nice!

Medieval building with comfort and cleanliness. Breakfast is extensive if you want it. Very comfortable stay. ery good for exploring the town.

Amazing hotel great value

The Parador Santo Domingo Bernard de Fresneda is a great example of how Spain has preserved and made ongoing use of its many historic buildings. On the positive side, the hotel is beautifully appointed with wonderful public spaces and an excellent comedor (restaurant). On the negative side, the old plumping system in the building gives off a very strong unpleasant sewer odour in the guest bathrooms - each bathroom being fitted with an exhaust fan. The reception staff are efficient but not very welcoming.

Beaufiful restoration of old monestary. Great background music, wonderful breakfast buffett, fabulous location in the heart of wine region. No complaintz.
