Slottshotellet i Kalmar

Lovely hotel, old feel. Dinner of soup salad and bread included, as well as breakfast. Walking distance to train and beautiful Kalmar Castle. Food was great, room lovely. Staff made all the difference—lovely and welcoming. This hotel is a gem!

Cosy hotel matching the neighbourhood. The bathroom was very small, one door to the shower was missing. Breakfast rum = restaurant to small for all the guests, weather was good, so could sit outside.

A very comfortable stay. Great staff. The courtyard area was very noisy into the evening with people have dinner, drinks.

There are a number of different buildings to this hotel. We upgraded to a “quad” for the larger space. It contained a king bed and a pullout sofa which we did not pull out. The room was clean and the shower good. A plus was the heated towel rack which dried a number of things in our 2day stay. Our room happened to be in a lovely old house which unfortunately happened to be on the corner of this large property. If the windows were open , it was loud from traffic noise. Closing the windows actually made it quiet and after 11 there was no traffic at all. The property is country European with a restaurant in the back (our dinner was delightful and accompanied by an adorable young accordion player in a semi-covered courtyard.) There is an outdoor hot tub ( which we did not try) and various outdoor relaxing areas plus an inside and outside bar. We were there late August and the seemingly ever present breeze made the high temperatures and 70% humidity bearable. It cooled at night and so did the parties outside at the hotel. The staff are all wonderfully accommodating both in the hotel and the restaurant. We recommend Slottshotellet

Lovely welcoming staff at a quaint and quiet property. The room was nicely laid out and provided everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and we had some great sleeps. The room was upstairs and was warm but the area was quiet and safe so the windows could be left open for air circulation. Our room apparently had some plumbing issues before our arrival so it did smell of sewage when we checked in. This largely went away but there were was the occasional waft. Keeping the bathroom door closed helped. We enjoyed more than one meal and drink in the restaurant. Everything we ordered was excellent. A wonderful breakfast was served each morning with lots of options. We loved the beautiful courtyard seating. The location is close to Kalmar Central Station but in a lovely park-like neighbourhood. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Disappointed. Grounds were not well kept. Dirty, weeds, broom and unswept sidewalk at entrance to our unit was left there the entire stay. Room was barely cleaned and the patio outside our suite was very dirty with bird droppings, weeds, dirt and branches and debri on the chairs, table and patio floor making it not useable. Loud music was played next to the jacuzzi which was right outside our unit and was obnoxious and made it hard to sleep. We have been wondering why in the world this hotel was recommended in Rick Steves travel guide. Would not stay there again.

Wonderful hotel in a great location just down the street from Kalmar Castle and the train station. Shops and restaurants within a five minute walk. Room was clean, comfortable, cozy, and nicely appointed. Warm breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant. The hotel staff was absolutely amazing, very friendly and hospitable. I can’t emphasize enough how welcoming the staff was. I will definitely be staying at Slottshottelet next time I visit Kalmar. It truly felt like a home away from home.

Our major complaint was the floor drain in the shower outgassing sewer gases, creating a rather bad smell in the room. We sort of mitigated it by placing a wet towel over the floor drain to block the smell.

The hotel has a good location, which is the main benefit - the castle and city centre are in a walking distance. The room (in a house next door) was big enough but unfortunately not very clean (dirt around door handles, dust and hairs on the floor, etc.). Not something you would expect to experience in a four-star hotel! On-site parking was possible for a fee (90 SEK) and the breakfast was varied enough.

Very nice character property in old style. Very nice and efficient staff. Good breakfast. Excellent location right next to kalmar castle.

Beautiful room but a bit hot as there was no ac. Good service though.

Really beautiful hotel and very inviting and cozy. It is a historical bldg. and therefore has no elevator. Not a big deal as there are just 3 floors. Just pack light :-) as you will need to carry your own bags (Covid). They did a nice job of distancing people during breakfast by setting appointments (thank you) but failed to do the same for the light dinner offered. Staff are super nice and polite.

I fint hotell med bra läge i Kalmar och fantastisk personal!

Kan varmt rekommendera Slottshotellet på grund av deras romantiska och klassiska atmosfär samt läget, 5-10 minuters promenad till järnvägsstationen åt ena hållet och Kalmar slott från andra hållet. Trevlig personal från reception till bar och frukost. Vi bodde i ett stort Dubbelrum Superior på bottenplan i ett annex med kakelugn. Solig innergård med bar och utemöbler. Enda minusen var följande: för mjuk säng och för mjuk kudde (sov oroligt), oväsen från järnvägsövergången då och då, samt att matta saknades på det fina, men kalla parkettgolvet. Önskar också att gardinerna varit mörkläggningsgardiner, då solljuset gick rakt igenom dem på morgonen. Kan ändå tänka mig att återvända till detta fina ställe, och kanske då betala extra och boka in oss i en av bubbelpoolerna?!

Mycket mysigt hotell i fin omgivning. Trevlig och serviceinriktad personal som fixade fram en ostmacka till mig sent på kvällen när blev småsugen. Kanonbra frukost (som även hade veganska produkter). Amerikanska pannkakor ser man inte så ofta men här fanns det.

Slottshotellet Kalmar blir bara bättre med åren. Mellan de idylliska husen som tillsammans utgör hotellet finns en innergård med bar och sköna solstolar. Rummen är fräscha och bemötandet alltid vänligt och proffsigt. Det här är ett hotell jag återkommer till år efter år.

Tyst rum med bra komfortabel säng, badrummet lite förlitet men OK. Trevlig serviceinriktad personal och inte minst en fantastisk frukost med stort utbud och alla rätterna laktosfria!

Hyggelige omgivelser og meget serviceminded personale. Super morgenmad, dog kunne menuen i restauranten om aftenen godt få et nyk opad. Hotellet ligger tæt på det hele i gåafstand
