Hotel Verde Zanzibar - Azam Luxury Resort & Spa

People were so welcoming, the room was spotless clean and the breakfast was amazing.

There is no beach. Dining options limited Not enough lighting on the walkways

Pros: Beautiful grounds and resort overall. Very esthetically pleasing to the eyes. The rooms were clean. Cons: Review for hotel verde…. For the price of the resort there’s a few things that did not sit well with us… 1. Forced to participate in gala’s/food buffets for the holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve). This is not advertised, you are emailed about 1 week prior to arrival. 2. The Gala’s are mandatory on 12/24/24, 12/25/24 & 12/31/24 which is fine; it’s extra and they do not say this when you book! They send an email leading up to arrival about it being “compulsory.” Flight was changed which meant arrival to the resort was close to midnight when the gala was over on 12/24/24; had to ensure upon check in not to be charged because we were told it’s mandatory. I emailed them in advance when I found out the flight was changed. No response. 3. For 12/31/24- it’s mandatory for all in-house guests but there was no space for us! You know it’s mandatory, you know we are going to be charged but all tables are booked and they didn’t say “you have to book in advance.” We had to explain this to a woman and she was beyond rude, then a second woman was nicer she helped and we were able to go off grounds and eat without being charged. 4. Requested assistance because a strong odor that smelled like sewage and feces from next door room came into our room. Told they would come see, no call and visit to the room. If this is 5 stars I do not want it! Will not stay again!

Most Beautiful balcony I ever seen

The food was excellent at this property. Chef Livingston prepared great food full of flavor. You could tell that he enjoyed his job. The property was very clean and the staff were very personable. I really appreciated the hotel’s efforts to sustainability.

Beautiful premises, friendly staff and excellent service

I visited zanzibar for business and this property is ideal for leisure and business. I stayed 2 nights rooms are clean, staff are friendly.

The hotel staff were brilliant and we loved the hotel’s real commitment to sustainability. Meals (outside of breakfast) were not as good as expected and the hotel’s zero alcohol policy needs to be much more widely advertised rather than just a footnote

We loved everything about this hotel. Location , customer service, food. Most importantly safety . All is good .

Excellent property with great amenities. Nice quiet location away from stone town. Definitely recommend for short stay while visiting Stone Town. You won't be disappointed

If you are on business trip or leisure and you want to be close to city and airport this is ideal location. The rooms are huge and very cozy. All rooms have Sea View and it has number of small boats for rent... like for fishing etc. Over the weekend there is waterpark which comes to life and it is amazing.

It was great. Only restaurants are limited at the property. Everything else is great.

The staff was fantastic and very nice. The only issue might have been wanting a cold beer to go with dinner, as Zanzibar is VERY hot. I don’t they serve alcohol there?

For the cost of the rooms, the hotel is just not a very good value. Overall communication was lacking (we were not informed of a conference that would mean we could not even access the lobby, for example!), pool has very limited hours compared to comparable hotels I’ve stayed around the world, and the overall environment leaves a lot to be desired (“waterfront” area immediately adjacent to hotel has empty containers, piles of old tires, construction equipment, etc.). Room was fine - clean and safe.

An amazing hotel and property! Has a water park for kids. Has a great staff and hospitality. Definitely a great place to vacation and close to stone town.
