To Whom It May Concern at Expedia, I write this letter with an urgent and heavy heart regarding a traumatic and inhumane incident that occurred during our recent stay at Cape Sienna Gourmet Hotels & Villas in Phuket, Thailand, an experience that endangered our safety, violated our basic rights, and left us emotionally distressed. On the day of our scheduled departure, my fiancé and I were detained against our will by the hotel manager over a disputed payment of $180 USD, a charge I attempted to settle using my Discover Bank Debit Card. The hotel refused the card and, to our utter shock, failed to provide any prior notice that Discover was not an accepted form of payment. As American travelers unaware of this restriction, we were not only caught off guard but offered no alternatives or understanding. Instead, we were subjected to intimidation, humiliation, and complete disregard for our wellbeing. The manager refused every single payment alternative we proposed: Zelle, CashApp, PayPal, Venmo, and more, despite our desperate efforts to resolve the situation. We even attempted to withdraw cash from an ATM, only to discover it too did not support Discover cards. Rather than assisting or de-escalating the situation, the manager escalated it drastically. We were surrounded by armed guards, multiple hotel staff members, and even our pre-scheduled airport transfer driver, all summoned to form an intimidating line as we were held in place. Great little find. 10 minute walk in to town with shops and restaurants, beach etc A couple of good local restaurants too. Very modern and new hotel with lovely pools, coffee shop, rooms, rooftop bar and restaurant. Would highly recommend

Quiet and peaceful

The drinks at the pool bar were creative and delicious! Nice place for our transition from the north of Thailand to the south, but we didn’t see much around the area in general. The rooms were nice, but there were a lot of stairs around, with elevators for just part of the way. There is a rooftop bar which had live music, but the smoke and wind pushed us back down to the pool bar. Service was great!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite, it was very nice exactly what we needed! Hotel is nice staff is great, only thing we didn’t like was the lack of dining options and the surrounding area isn’t great - so would suggest taking a taxi or the shuttle they offer. It is close to Kamala beach, but to be honest, the beach was packed with sunbeds and vendors trying to sell you food and drink, not the vibe we were after.

The staff were accommodating and affable. My wife and I had just gotten engaged in Isaan and we were so happy with the accommodations within the Grande Suite; the Spa, the dining, the pools, the views, the concierge - Ohm - recommended & booked some excellent day cruises for us. The twilight cruise to the James Bond Island is exponentially better than some of the other offerings.

Loved our stay! In a quiet area, with amazing views from every angle. The front end staff always pleasant to deal with and accommodating. Will definitely return again if we stay in Kamala.

Great Hotel in a quiet location but within easy walking distance of the beach and resort

Convenient quiet setting within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A shuttle bus was available to get to the beach which ran three times a day but you need to put your name on the list held at reception. We didn't like the outlook of the room we were allocated so asked if we could change. The staff were accommodating and showed us an alternative room which we didn't take. However their response to our request made us feel that they would do their best to resolve the issue. Overall the staff were friendly and pleasant whoch we appreciated.

The staff at Sienna is absolutely friendly and generous. The hotel itself is superb. Though a road from/to the hotel is a bit steep for someone with a mobility issue, but can be manageable as there are some options to move around. This stay was a birthday gift for my mother, and what surprised us was the staff congrat her birthday though I didn't mention it before staying. Thank you very much once again for your kindness. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Property is nice but particularly reception is terrible. I was one day before I would check out and I had stayed in a hotel villa for 10 days and hotel rooms fo 4 days already, stopped by an overly ambitiuous receptionist called Nooked because I was waiting for a taxi with 2 suitcases. He thought I was fleeing and instructed the taxi not to leave. I had to come to the reception and pay the extras evernthough I had given my credit card while check-in in an I still had a day to stay. No reasoning was accepted and I had to pay all outstanding extra which was 1 dinner and a few mini-bar drinks. I have and am travelling across the globe for more then 30 years, I am a globilist at Hyatt and hold Gold status at many airlines and hotel chains but this is something I never have experienced before. Not even in a 1 star no name city hotel.

The hotels facilities are very nice, it has a pool with a beautiful view of the sea and beach (however it is approximately 10 minute walk to the beach front). The rooms are big and spacious. It’s quiet at night. The breakfast buffet was fresh and had a good variation.

Nice location , friendly staff and good facilities

We loved that the location was off the beach. Bit of a hill, but really easy walk to town. Breakfast buffet was top notch. Staff was so lovely. Great resort to relax at after 16 hour flight and 14 hour time difference. Would absolutely stay there again.
